About the Team

OpenAI’s Privacy Legal team develops practical, scalable privacy approaches that enable the business while maintaining strong data protection standards. The team works closely with Commercial Legal, the Office of the DPO, Product Counsel and technical teams, and in the enterprise space partners regularly with sales, security, and engineering. It is a cross-functional team focused on turning legal and regulatory requirements into clear guidance, workable positions, and repeatable processes that support enterprise deployments, customer trust, and business growth. The team is highly collaborative, solutions-oriented, and focused on enabling the business while maintaining a strong privacy posture.

About the Role

This role supports OpenAI’s B2B business by building clear, scalable approaches to privacy and data governance across enterprise use cases. It focuses on developing and maintaining core privacy processes, documentation, and positions, including international data transfers, data flow mapping, governance artefacts, and OpenAI’s role in relation to personal data in enterprise scenarios. The role also supports privacy aspects of commercial agreements, helps respond to enterprise customer privacy inquiries, and contributes to risk assessments for enterprise deployments. Success in the role means strengthening enterprise privacy posture, improving the enterprise privacy experience, enabling deployments and providing practical, business-oriented privacy solutions.

You’ll be responsible for:

Enterprise Privacy Support

  • Data flow mapping.

  • Review and advise on processorship and controllership scenarios.

  • Advise on and help maintain data transfer mechanisms, including standard contractual clauses, intragroup agreements, transfer impact assessments, and others.

  • Advising on responding to enterprise customers’ privacy and data protection questions

  • Identifying and addressing recurring customer requests.

  • Draft, expand and scale publicly available information and controls for enterprise customers.

  • Contribute to internal guidance materials.

Commercial Support

  • Support on privacy aspects of agreements in B2B scenarios, including:

  • Supporting negotiations by advising Commercial Legal on privacy matters.

  • Identifying privacy risks and proposing practical alternatives.

  • Helping align contractual commitments with company policies and technical safeguards.

  • Supporting updates to standard templates (enterprise agreements, partnership agreements, etc.).

  • Helping design and maintain approved fallback language.

Enterprise Risk Management

  • Support privacy risk assessments for enterprise deployments.

  • Enterprise DPIA considerations.

  • Large-scale deployments.

  • Cross-border processing and data transfers.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration.

  • Work closely with the legal team, sales, security and engineering.

We’re looking for someone with:

Essential

  • Qualified lawyer in an EU jurisdiction.

  • 6–10+ years PQE (or equivalent experience).

  • Deep expertise in EU privacy and data protection law.

  • Strong knowledge of GDPR implementation.

  • Experience supporting enterprise SaaS or AI products.

  • Experience working with enterprise customers.

  • Experience supporting product deployments.

  • Strong commercial judgment.

  • Ability to translate legal requirements into practical guidance.


Preferred

  • Working knowledge of other other non-EU privacy laws and regs.

  • Experience in AI or advanced technologies.

  • Experience in global technology companies.

  • Experience working with regulators.

  • Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies.

  • Experience with enterprise security frameworks.
