Job Description:

We have an outstanding opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer to join the Cybersecurity organisation as part of Fidelity Ireland’s Enterprise Cybersecurity group. In this role, you will lead the engineering strategy, design, and delivery of advanced solutions for the Vulnerability Management and Compliance team, with a strong focus on improving risk visibility, automation, and enterprise‑wide security outcomes.

The Expertise We’re Looking For
  • You care deeply about doing excellent work with excellent people.

  • You bring a security‑first attitude and believe that strong engineering principles and strong relationships go hand in hand.

  • You have a background in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or equivalent experience — and you are driven to keep learning.

  • You have 10+ years of hands‑on engineering experience, ideally combining software development, security automation, and large-scale systems work.

  • You are highly proficient in building automation and tooling that improves vulnerability detection, prioritisation, and remediation.

  • You have experience with modern DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code, automated testing, and secure pipeline design.

  • You understand vulnerability management, including scanning technologies, asset inventory challenges, risk scoring, and strategies for addressing vulnerabilities.

  • Exposure to platforms such as Tenable, Qualys, Wiz, or cloud-native scanners is highly favourable.

  • You have experience designing or integrating compliance controls, such as configuration hardening, baseline monitoring, and evidence automation.

  • Previous exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP is a strong advantage, especially in areas related to cloud security posture and cloud-native scanning.

  • You are automation-focused and continuously look for opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual touch-points, and improve data quality and accuracy.

  • You are skilled at translating complex technical risks into clear, actionable insights for engineers, leadership, and business partners.

The Purpose of Your Role

As a Principal Systems Engineerin the Cybersecurity Vulnerability Management & Compliance team, you will oversee engineering and automation. You will also work on operational excellence to safeguard the company’s technological environment. You will guide the design and delivery of scalable solutions that identify, prioritise, and remediate vulnerabilities across our global environment, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations, security guidelines, and organisational risk tolerance.

The Skills You Bring
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills and the ability to run with multiple tasks at a given time.

  • Ability to provide technical guidance to your team.

  • You thrive in a team environment, collaborating openly and actively contributing to how work gets completed.

  • You are able to act independently under general direction.

  • Familiarity with event driven and user-focused processing is desired.

The Value You Deliver
  • Deliver high‑quality, timely, and maintainable security automation and vulnerability management solutions that improve the firm’s ability to detect, prioritise, and remediate risks across cloud and on‑prem environments. You ensure these solutions meet both functional needs and critical security/compliance requirements.

  • Actively supply to and elevate engineering guidelines, including secure coding, automated testing, peer reviews, infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD quality gates, and the design of scalable pipelines for scanning, enrichment, reporting, and remediation workflows.

  • Partner closely with product owners and engineering teams to shape the road-map, influence platform improvements, and ensure security capabilities integrate seamlessly with broader technology and business strategies.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the firm’s technology landscape, asset inventory, and regulatory obligations, enabling you to translate security findings into relevant business insights and collaborate effectively with technology owners, cyber teams, and compliance collaborators.

  • Investigate new techniques, tools, and automation approaches, share them with the team, and help drive a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence within vulnerability management and compliance.
