We are seeking a highly skilled Power BI Developer who can take full ownership of BI delivery within a product-focused, agile environment. This person will often be the dedicated BI resource within a pod, responsible for requirements gathering, solution design, and developing highquality, scalable Power BI dashboards that support critical business decisions.
The ideal candidate combines strengths in business analysis, data visualisation design, and BI development, and works effectively with a range of technical and nontechnical colleagues.
This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring candidates to work from our client's Dublin office at least once per week.
Key responsibilities:
Endtoend BI delivery
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business questions, define analytical requirements, and translate them into clear dashboard specifications.
- Design intuitive, insightful dashboards using visualisation best practices.
- Own the full delivery lifecycle of Power BI solutions.
Advanced Power BI development
- Build highquality Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models using advanced capabilities:
- DAX optimisation
- Performance tuning & query folding
- Visual enhancements (e.g., HTML/CSS styling where supported)
- Scalable semantic model design
- Ensure solutions comply with performance, governance, and enterprise standards.
Data modelling & SQL
- Design efficient, reliable data models based on dimensional modelling principles.
- Use SQL to extract, transform, validate, and optimise data.
Collaboration & agile delivery
- Work closely with Data Engineers, Product Owners, and QA within a crossfunctional agile team.
- Participate in refinement, planning, demos, sprint reviews, and quality assurance processes.
Required Experience:
- 3+ years handson Power BI development experience, including advanced modelling, DAX, and performance optimisation.
- Strong business analysis skills: requirements gathering, scoping dashboards, understanding decision-making needs.
- Strong design capability rooted in visualisation best practices.
- Strong understanding of data modelling concepts (e.g., star schema, semantic models).
- Strong SQL skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with nontechnical stakeholders.
- English language proficiency at C1 level or higher.
- Ability to take ownership of the full BI lifecycle.
Nice to have:
- Experience building dashboards in Databricks.
- Experience with Azure/AWS analytics platforms.
- Experience working in agile delivery teams.
