Job Description

   

The Portfolio Enablement Manager will be responsible for the overall portfolio enablement strategy, planning and execution. This includes close alignment with SUSE product business units and stakeholders, understanding our product and portfolio strategies and roadmaps, and designing and launching solutions, processes, and systems for customer and Partner offerings. This leader will be responsible for operational success, strategic alignment, and the integration of activities across all SUSE business units. 

We seek exceptional talent with proven skills in overseeing the development, implementation, and governance of product service/solution portfolio lifecycle management and what it takes to successfully deliver revenue growth programs through the appropriate routes to market. Additionally, a proven track record of optimising and driving best-in-class new product and solutions introduction practices to improve quality and reduce time to market and time to revenue.

This leader will be empowered to influence strategy and direction by owning a significant number of measurable functional, operational, and strategic goals or priorities. To do this, it’s key to bring a solid background in strategy and strong business acumen. They will be a key advisor to executive management in influencing the strategic direction of the business.

The role works with large, cross-functional teams to facilitate projects and collaborate across businesses to align strategy with organizational goals. 

Focus Areas

  • Defining and executing the go-to-market strategy, lifecycle and local positioning of the assigned product, solution and/or service portfolio in line with the business strategy.

  • Fostering close collaboration with global headquarters, ensuring local needs are incorporated and aligned with global strategies. 

  • Responsible for localisation of sales enablement and technical documentation.

  • Analysing market trends, customer requirements, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

  • Monitoring performance, tracking KPIs and implementing corrective measures to optimise our market position and performance.

  • Building & developing a robust, engaged and growth-oriented network within the Building organization and driving a proactive collaboration with Tech Units

  • Helping to foster a positive, productive company culture and work environment.

  • Work with senior leadership to define the strategic direction for the product or service portfolio and to identify opportunities for growth by analysing market trends, customer needs, and competitors. 

  • Ensure that all products/services within the portfolio align with company goals and customer needs.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive portfolio development strategy that aligns with the organisation's learning objectives and business goals.

  • Regularly engage with senior leadership to understand training needs and to ensure training content supports organisational goals.

  • Act as a thought leader in developing training frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Portfolio team, content developers, instructional designers, and platform administrators.

  • Set clear objectives and performance metrics for team members, conducting regular reviews and providing constructive feedback.

  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.

  • Proactively contribute to ideas that are innovative to the portfolio development process, creating efficiency in process and communication to stakeholders, helping to avoid escalation in technical problems.

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-quality training materials, including instructor-led training, eLearning modules, videos, manuals, and interactive content that aligns with SUSE’s organisational goals and evolving business needs.

  • Ensure content is up-to-date, relevant, and tailored to the specific needs of different audiences and learning objectives.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to identify training needs and develop compelling portfolio solutions.

  • Provide internal teams (e.g., sales, customer support, marketing) with the necessary tools, resources, and training to effectively deliver on the portfolio’s objectives.

  • Create and execute enablement programs that help teams understand the portfolio and communicate its value proposition to customers. 

  • Identify training and coaching needs within SUSE Portfolio and customize to deliver the comprehensive sessions.

  • Partner with senior leaders and key stakeholders to ensure training content aligns with organisational strategies and addresses key business needs.

  • Gather and incorporate feedback from users and stakeholders to continuously improve content and platform effectiveness.

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of content development projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

  • Track and analyse the effectiveness of portfolio delivery and platforms using key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytics.

  • Prepare and present reports on portfolio content performance, learner engagement, and platform usage to inform strategic decisions.

 Skills Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in product management, business development or strategy, within Open Source, building technologies or a related industry.

  • At least 10+ years of experience in portfolio training content development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, or Chef), and virtualisation technologies is a plus.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and containerised environments.

  • Deep knowledge of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), SUSE Kubernetes, SUSE OpenStack, and other SUSE technologies.

  • Strong background in designing and implementing enterprise-level IT architectures, especially in open-source environments.

  • Understanding of GTM motions and in-depth understanding of the sales process, methodologies (eg. MEDDPICC, Challenger, CVI), and best practices across different roles

  • Proven experience in managing content development teams, overseeing content platforms, and engaging with BU portfolio teams.

  • Experience in driving GTM strategies and product enablement focusing on Emerging solutions.

  • Deep understanding of instructional design 

  • Strong proficiency in using CMS, LMS platforms, and content development tools.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

  • Technical knowledge to solve problems efficiently and effectively

  • Ability to analyse data and use insights to drive continuous improvement.

  • Ability to navigate challenges and find solutions and resolve roadblocks
