About the team and the role:
At eBay, maintaining buyer and seller trust in our marketplace, while ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, is a top priority. Our team leverages advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance policy enforcement by identifying and removing unsafe items and other regulated products. The Policy Manager will be a key part of this team, responsible for administering policies, developing strategies, and overseeing the program's execution towards shared goals. As a Policy Manager, you will work globally, partnering closely with Legal, Product Management, Engineering, and business partners to drive positive impacts on business metrics and operations. You will evaluate in-house and third-party solutions, develop control plans, and engage directly with eBay buyers and sellers through research initiatives and one-on-one interactions.
What you will accomplish:
- Navigate complex catalog conditions, including new releases, recalls, safety notices, and regional variations, to maintain compliance within a dynamic regulatory environment.
- Lead enforcement activities, ensuring program effectiveness through assurance testing and performance metric monitoring.
- Design customer experiences and communications that help sellers achieve compliance, reinforcing eBay's partnership role with sellers.
- Use data analytics to identify compliance trends and patterns, translating insights into actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of seller behavior and risk exposure to develop strategic enforcement measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define metrics and support automation of enforcement actions, driving policy and business decisions.
What you will bring:
- Proven experience of five years or more in policy, program management, or strategy development, ideally within ecommerce
- Strong understanding of the ecommerce landscape and functional knowledge of the eBay marketplace.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations to varied groups.
- Capacity to understand and evaluate customer needs and motivations to inform business strategies, considering end-to-end customer experience.
- Ability and willingness to challenge existing approaches, driving positive culture changes within the team.
- Availability to work in specified locations with potential travel, ensuring engagement with global partners and stakeholders.
The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$84,800 - $146,900
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
