Job Responsibilities:

  • Plant Digitisation
  • Develop and implement technical strategies that align with the company's business goals.
  • Identify opportunities for technology improvements and innovation across all departments.
  • Gather cross-departmental requirements to design, deliver, and align digitisation initiatives.
  • Lead efforts to digitise and automate processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
  • Ensure that digitisation initiatives are aligned with the overall business strategy and objectives.
  • Monitor the impact of digitisation efforts and continuously seek opportunities for further improvements.
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership including Finance, Production, EHS and Quality, to understand their technical requirements and provide integrated solutions.
  • Communicate technical initiatives and updates to stakeholders.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's manufacturing processes and workflows.
  • Implement technical solutions that enhance process efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve overall productivity.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies relevant to heavy manufacturing.
  • Work effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel to deliver comprehensive technical solutions.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure that technical solutions meet the needs and expectations of all departments.
  • Lead technical projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment with business objectives.
  • Monitor project progress and report on key metrics.
  • IT Management:
  • Leading and managing the day-to-day performance of a small IT team - including hiring, training, evaluation, mentoring, and providing technical leadership.
  • Supervise the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, desktops, operating systems, software applications, network, and telecommunication infrastructure.
  • Plan and manage IT budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
  • Manage relationships with MIT, external vendors and service providers.
  • Developing, testing, and reviewing disaster recovery plans in infrastructure and applications.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for issues across all departments.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical incidents and service requests.
  • Plant Compliance:
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of compliance and support the achievement and maintenance of cross departmental certifications, including NIST, ISO9001, TISAX, IATF
  • Maintain constant communication with Magna Global IT to ensure alignment with global standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure all technical projects and initiatives comply with Magna's global IT standards and practices.
  • Regularly review and update local practices to remain compliant with global directives.
  • Participates in MAFACT / Gemba operational improvement and lean manufacturing efforts. Analyzing existing workflows and identifying process improvements that will positively impact user experiences.
  • Industry 4.0 Development and Expansion:
  • Lead efforts to integrate global & domestic Industry 4.0 (I4.0) initiatives, to enhance manufacturing processes, data acquisition, decision-making and business operations.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and experience with I4.0 technologies, including:
  • MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport):
  • HiveMQ, for scalable and secure MQTT messaging.
  • Kepware for industrial connectivity and data acquisition.
  • Node-RED for flow-based programming to integrate and automate processes.
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework.
  • Familiarity with BI technologies, i.e. Grafana, Microsoft Power BI, AWS Quicksight, Qlikview.
  • Stay updated on the latest I4.0 trends and technologies to continuously drive innovation and improvement.
  • Experience with Key Systems:
  • Demonstrate significant experience with key manufacturing and business systems, including:
  • IT infrastructure including firewalls, routers, communications, switches, security, enterprise software technologies, licensing etc.
  • ISMS (Information Security Management Systems): Implement and manage ISMS to protect information assets and ensure data security.
  • OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness): Implement and manage systems to monitor and improve equipment performance.
  • ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning): Oversee the deployment and optimisation of ERP systems to streamline business processes.
  • MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems): Ensure effective use of MES to manage and control manufacturing operations.
  • QMS (Quality Management Systems): Support the implementation and maintenance of QMS to ensure product quality and compliance.

Key Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: Recognized post-secondary degree, BSc, in Computer Science or Information Technology field. An MSc. and relevant industry certifications (e.g., Prince, PMP) are a distinct plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in technical management, with significant experience in IT, projects and heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in technical infrastructure, network management, cybersecurity, and enterprise software systems.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Project Management: Proven experience in managing complex technical projects.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Process Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and workflows, with the ability to implement technical solutions that support and enhance these processes.
  • System Experience: Significant experience with OEE, ERP, MES, QMS, ISMS, and other key manufacturing and business systems.
  • Attitude and Innovation: A positive attitude towards work and a strong drive for innovation.
  • Compliance: Experience in ensuring compliance with global standards, policies, and procedures.
  • NIST, ISO9001, TISAX, and IATF.
  • Industry 4.0 Knowledge: Extensive knowledge and experience with I4.0 technologies such as MQTT, HiveMQ, Kepware, and Node-RED.

Additional Information:
  • May require out of hours during critical project phases, compliance patching or outages
  • On site position, with occasional travel to other divisional sites.
  • Full time job, salaried based .
