Squarespace is hiring a Payroll & Compliance Specialist to join our growing Finance team. You perform in high-growth, cross-regional environments where autonomy and pace are fundamental and take ownership of complex payroll processes. You will be a subject-matter expert and collaborate with People Operations, Legal, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll for more than 1,800 employees across the US, Ireland, Australia, the UK, Portugal, and the Netherlands.

You exemplify ownership in recognising and addressing problems, streamlining processes, and identifying ways to improve payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Your work will be critical to supporting a reliable and scalable global payroll function. You will report to the Head of Global Payroll & Compliance and report out of our Dublin office.

You'll Get To…
  • Lead the end-to-end management of semi-monthly and monthly payrolls across multiple countries, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant execution.
  • Format and manage Excel and Google Sheets templates for payroll data imports across multiple platforms
  • Audit and verify accuracy of payroll using checklists and reconciliations and resolve discrepancies before final submission
  • Manage off-cycle and special payments, including bonuses, equity, retroactive pay, garnishments, and statutory deductions
  • Oversee quarter-end and year-end payroll audits and processing for both U.S. and international payrolls
  • Reconcile quarterly and annual reports to ensure compensation data is correctly recorded
  • Maintain and audit employee records in Workday and payroll systems in collaboration with People and Finance teams
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries through the ticketing system with accuracy, professionalism, and a commitment to confidentiality
  • Support 401(k) audits, payroll funding, and reconciliations
  • Create payroll and benefit related journal entries and import into NetSuite; assist with month-end close and GL reconciliations
  • Lead and contribute to payroll process improvements, automation projects, and system enhancements
  • Support compliance audits and documentation for payroll-related processes
Who We're Looking For
  • 4–6 years of end-to-end payroll experience in a global, multi-state company
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. payroll law, tax compliance, and statutory requirements; experience with global payroll (especially Ireland and Australia)
  • Experience with ADP WorkforceNow (U.S.) and Cloudpay (global)
  • Proficient in NetSuite and journal entry creation
  • Experience with Workday HCM for timekeeping and reporting
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and large dataset management
  • Experience managing confidential information responsibly
  • You proactively manage your responsibilities and move work forward, while staying aligned with cross-functional partners
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
