Payments Business Analyst

What does a successful Payments Business Analyst do? 

A successful Payments Business Analyst at Fiserv partners with clients and internal teams to translate business needs into practical, scalable solutions that enable seamless financial experiences. You will act as a connector between product, engineering, QA and stakeholders, driving clarity through well-crafted user stories, acceptance criteria and solution documentation. You’ll embrace our Partners in Possibility mindset to deliver improvements that make life easier for our clients and their customers.

What you will do:

  • Gather, analyze and validate client requirements to determine fit with existing functionality and identify solution options

  • Define user stories and write detailed acceptance criteria to guide development and testing

  • Map current and future-state processes (As Is / To Be) to identify gaps, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities

  • Draft Business Requirements Documents and Solution Scope Documents using Microsoft Office and Visio

  • Coordinate with developers, testers and subject matter experts to ensure requirements are implemented as intended

  • Communicate status updates, escalate risks and manage stakeholder expectations when timelines or scope are impacted

  • Assess post-production implications and evaluate effectiveness of delivered solutions

What you will need to have:

  • Strong business analysis skills with demonstrated experience in payments or financial services

  • Proficiency with Agile frameworks, preferably SAFe, and practical use of JIRA for features, epics and user stories with clear acceptance criteria

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Visio and PowerPoint, and experience authoring BRDs and solution scope artifacts

  • SQL scripting capability for data validation, analysis and troubleshooting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven stakeholder management and escalation ability

What would be great to have:

  • Experience with payments transaction processing, transaction pricing and scheme fee models

  • Familiarity with XML, integrations and system/data mapping

  • Background in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) or experience conducting root-cause analysis

  • Experience creating test cases and supporting QA during user acceptance and integration testing
