It takes powerful technology to connect our brands and partners with an audience of hundreds of millions of people. Whether you’re looking to write mobile app code, engineer the servers behind our massive ad tech stacks, or develop algorithms to help us process trillions of data points a day, what you do here will have a huge impact on our business—and the world.

About our Team

When you impact millions of people every day, you become a large target for adversaries of all types within all layers of the stack. Our job is to keep our users safe and make Yahoo one of the safest places on the Internet. We are the information security team at Yahoo; known as "The Paranoids".

About the Role

Join The Paranoids, Yahoo’s elite cybersecurity team. We’re seeking an early-career Software Engineer with a strong foundation in programming and a drive to secure the digital frontier.

As part of this collaborative team, you'll play an important role in advancing our secure software development life cycle (SDLC) practices. You’ll participate in adapting and customizing open-source software to address evolving security risks.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with security engineers and architects to integrate security best practices into the SDLC.

  • Develop and maintain our backend solutions and internal tools to support Yahoo's SDLC process.

  • Contribute to automation frameworks and security tools to identify vulnerabilities and promote secure-by-default practices.

  • Learn and apply secure coding standards while leveraging available mentoring and training opportunities.

  • Respond to evolving security risks by participating in the adaptation and customization of open-source software.

Who You Are

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1-3 years of professional experience with Golang, including familiarity with standard libraries and concurrency patterns.

  • Demonstrated eagerness to collaborate and learn within a multidisciplinary, globally distributed team.

  • Enthusiasm for problem-solving, comfort with backend services, and an interest in secure system design.

  • A foundational understanding of software development principles: version control, CI/CD, testing, and debugging.

  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous learning.

Bonus Points

  • Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud infrastructure, or automation tooling.

  • Experience with SDLC security practices, code scanning, or secure code review.

Why The Paranoids?

You’ll join a collaborative group of security-minded engineers who believe that securing billions of user experiences starts with innovative, secure software. At Yahoo, your work makes a difference, and your growth is supported at every step.

If you’re excited to build secure systems at scale and ignite your career in cybersecurity, we want to meet you!
