We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Office Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our Dublin office. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on finance position within a dynamic business environment. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate ledgers, supporting month-end processes, and ensuring compliance with Irish accounting and tax standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with management, external accountants, and vendors to ensure smooth and efficient financial administration across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks).
- Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, including supplier invoices and customer payments.
- Manage bank reconciliations, petty cash, and company credit cards.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Liaise with external auditors and accountants as required.
Payroll & Compliance
- Process monthly payroll in line with Irish Revenue guidelines and ensure PAYE, PRSI, and USC deductions are correctly calculated and submitted via ROS (Revenue Online Service).
- Manage pension contributions and employee expense claims.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, VAT returns, and other statutory reporting obligations.
Financial Reporting & Administration
- Support management with cashflow forecasts, budget tracking, and ad-hoc financial reports.
- Maintain supplier and customer records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Support procurement, office management, and general administrative duties as needed in a small business environment.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a similar finance role.
- Strong working knowledge of Irish accounting and payroll practices.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiar with VAT returns, ROS submissions, and payroll processing.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Qualifications
- Accounting Technician (ATI) qualification or part-qualified ACCA, ACA, or CPA.
- Previous experience working within an SME or managed services environment.
- Experience with expense management systems or integrated ERP platforms.
- Familiarity with audit preparation and management reporting.
