Job DescriptionAbout this job:
We are seeking a Reserving Actuary to join our Worldwide Non-Life reserving team. The role will support the ‘Head of Non-Life Reserving – P&C EMEA, P&C APAC and Global Cat’ and will be focused on the reserving of our P&C Reinsurance portfolio for business located outside the Americas.
About the role:
- Contribute to the Deep Dive reserve reviews for the Company’s P&C portfolios outside of the Americas, working closely with underwriters, pricing actuaries and the claims teams to determine appropriate Actuarial Central Estimate reserves and contribute towards the establishment of the Management Best Estimate reserve.
- Support the quarterly financial close process, ensuring that the Company’s financial statements accurately reflect the latest reserving position
- Process Development - Drive automation and enhance data-driven reserving processes and actuarial MI.
- Ensure that there is a regular flow of reserving information to and from key stakeholders, including Underwriting, Actuarial Pricing, Claims, Reinsurance Accounting and Finance.
About you:
Technical Skills:
- Experience working in a Non-Life Reinsurance business would be a distinct advantage.
- Experience in dealing with underwriting teams.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products, in particular, the candidate must have excellent Excel skills. VBA experience would also be favourable.
- Experience working with ResQ would be an advantage.
- Comfortable accessing information stored in databases and data systems/reports
- Programming experience beneficial but not essential (examples: R, Python)
Soft Skills:
- Good business judgement; an ability to solve complex issues with pragmatic solutions.
- High motivation, team-orientation and adaptability
- Excellent communication skills. This individual must have the ability to succinctly articulate actuarial concepts to non-actuarial audiences.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a reserving role with a leading non-life re/insurer. You may also have gained part of that experience at an actuarial consulting firm.
Professional Qualifications:
- Fellow or Associate of an internationally recognized actuarial society
- Nearly qualified candidates will also be considered
