We’re VOID Interactive, the kick-ass team behind the best-selling FPS game Ready or Not, which has sold over 11 million copies across all platforms. We’re a fully remote, 70+ person studio made up of seriously talented individuals from all over the world who love games and creating exceptional experiences for players.

We’re now looking for a Narrative Writer with strong creative writing skills, a deep understanding of game storytelling, and the technical know-how to work within Unreal Engine. In this role, you’ll be hands-on in crafting immersive narratives, developing memorable characters, and ensuring every piece of written content enhances the player experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Write high-quality dialogue, character backstories, environmental storytelling, and in-game text that reflects the tone and vision of the project.
  • Collaborate closely with design, art, and production teams to integrate narrative seamlessly into gameplay.
  • Maintain consistency in voice, tone, and lore across all narrative content.
  • Assist in refining and maintaining narrative documentation for clarity and usability.
  • Work within Unreal Engine to implement, test, and iterate on narrative content.
  • Review and edit your own work, as well as contribute feedback to the broader narrative team.
  • Track and manage narrative details to ensure coherence and continuity throughout the game.

What we’re looking for:

  • 2–3 years of professional experience in narrative writing for games.
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine.
  • Exceptional creative writing and editing skills, particularly in character development and worldbuilding.
  • Strong grasp of game development pipelines and how narrative fits within them.
  • Ability to manage granular details while keeping the broader story vision in focus.
  • Highly organised with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills across multi-disciplinary teams.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with integration of narrative tools and knowledge of game design principles.
  • Hands-on experience implementing narrative systems and tools from previous projects.
