Spotlight Sports Group is a global media and technology company with a clear purpose, to set the standard for trusted, customer-driven experiences across global racing and sports betting. Guided by our mission to create experiences that fans love, we combine more than 40 years of heritage with bold innovation to deliver award-winning content, data and digital products. With over 400 employees worldwide, our portfolio includes Racing Post, Pickswise, myracing and Free Super Tips, as well as the international marketing agency ICS-digital and ICS-translate. Together, we partner with leading operators, affiliates and media groups to power growth and engagement across the industry.

The Racing Post is looking for an ambitious, creative journalist with a passion for telling Irish racing's stories across video, social and digital formats, and who is as comfortable appearing on camera or editing short-form video clips as they are filing 500 words of news copy.

The role combines written racing journalism – news reporting, race previews and reports, feature writing – with a strong emphasis on video and social-first content for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and X. We want someone who understands how audiences consume content on digital and social platforms and is excited about building new formats alongside the core editorial work of a busy racing desk.

This is a junior position suited to someone at the start of their career or with limited professional experience who has a genuine feel for visual storytelling and an enthusiasm for horseracing.

What you'll do:

  • Create and star in video content for social platforms and YouTube, including shortform clips, social-native formats and contributions to Racing Post shows, both on camera and behind it
  • Attend race meetings and other events to produce video and written content on the ground
  • Write news, features, race previews and reports
  • Develop and pitch ideas for new video and social-first formats that grow our audience on digital platforms
  • Monitor racing and betting news daily and identify stories with visual or social potential
  • Work closely with the Ireland editor and the wider editorial team, in particular the Video and Audience teams, to ensure content reaches the right audiences in the right formats

Requirements

Essential

  • Good knowledge of horseracing and betting
  • Experience of creating video or social-first content – a personal portfolio, active social channels or professional work all count
  • Strong written communication and an instinct for storytelling across formats
  • Comfort appearing on camera and ability to communicate with confidence and flair
  • Understanding of social platforms – what performs, why, and how to create for them
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Willingness to work weekends and bank holidays across a seven-day rota

Desirable

  • Experience in a newsroom or digital publishing environment
  • Video editing skills
  • A personal track record of building an audience on social platforms
  • A full, clean driving licence

Benefits

We offer a range of well-being initiatives, including private medical insurance, excellent parental leave, a working globally policy, mental health support, assistance programs, and social gatherings. We also provide a pension scheme and various other benefit schemes. Plus, we all get our birthdays off work and enjoy 25 days of holiday per year.

We’ve also got you covered with life assurance and exclusive perks like the Star card and our Step Further Awards (our employee recognition program) to recognise your dedication. For those working via the hybrid model (in the office and at home) we’ve made commuting easier with our Season Ticket Loan and Cycle to Work Scheme.

You can also take advantage of complimentary access to our Racing Post Members Club, complete with an Ultimate Membership. We believe in making a positive impact beyond the workplace, and you'll have the chance to volunteer two days per year with our charity partner.
