Job DescriptionWe're looking for a committed and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team, contributing to the development, delivery, and technical leadership of advanced peelers from concept through to production and field support. In this role, you will combine technical expertise with practical design experience, ensuring machines meet performance, quality and cost targets.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders such as, product management, production, service, as well as external partners, including suppliers, technology providers and customers. Benchmarking against competitors and applying cutting-edge Design for Manufacturing (DfM) principles are key to maintaining our technical and cost leadership.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the conceptual and architectural design of machines and modules, ensuring performance and cost targets are met.
- Translate theoretical knowledge into cost-effective mechanical designs.
- Design and develop prototypes and parts, including drafting, testing and validation.
- Apply state-of-the-art DfM techniques to optimise quality and cost.
- Maintain the technical knowledge on peeling applications, offering support to peeling issues (internal and external).
- Identify and propose technical improvements for existing applications.
- Organise and lead design reviews and FMEA sessions to ensure design quality.
- Maintain and improve design documentation principles in line with requirements from suppliers, manufacturing and service teams.
- Represent the mechanical engineering department to internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct market research and maintain a network of suppliers, partners and technology providers.

This position is ideal for a self‐motivated person, with a desire to improve the quality of your work and to develop new skills. A strong focus on delivering outstanding mechanical designs and track new technologies is essential to take up this responsibility.
You have a true passion for engineering and demonstrate a drive to complete tasks. You feel comfortable in taking initiatives.
As communication is key, you have excellent communication and facilitation skills. You are able to present or handle complex technical information and issues in a user-friendly manner. You have a strong ability to communicate the value of your work confidently and clearly to team members and clients. Multitasking is fine by you and you can cope well with deadline pressure.
- University degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
- Has 3-6+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience in relevant industries.
- Proficient in 3D CAD systems, preferably experienced in SolidWorks.
- Experience with sheet metal, turning, milling and stainless steel welding.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
- Willingness to travel internationally with a flexible schedule.
- Experience in hygienic design and/or design of food processing equipment is a plus.
- Innovative mindset.
- Additional knowledge of pneumatics and electrical systems is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills in English, other languages are a plus.
- Experience in pressure vessels or similar is a plus.
