We’re seeking a Competitive Intelligence Senior Consultant to join our growing Product Marketing organization. In this role, you’ll blend a deep understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, and technology innovation to deliver insights that shape MongoDB’s strategy, storytelling, and competitive advantage.
You’ll be part of a globally distributed, high-impact team that partners closely with teams from across the company, including Product Management, Product & Technical Marketing, Sales, and Finance, to provide the market and competitive intelligence the organization needs to succeed.
Responsibilities- Research – Analyze customer requirements, the data, cloud, and fast-evolving AI market landscape, and competitive offerings to identify key points of MongoDB differentiation. Partner with technical experts to conduct deep-dive comparisons and feed insights into product strategy and GTM plans
- Content Curation – Develop a range of collateral that fully articulates the value of MongoDB, translating technical capabilities into messages that resonate with diverse audiences – from developers to C-level decision makers
- Strategic Guidance – Monitor the broad competitive landscape and advise senior leadership on product and sales strategies, marketing plans, roadmap planning, and other cross-functional go-to-market initiatives
- Sales Enablement and Support – Support our sales team and partners on market trends and competitive positioning, enabling them to effectively qualify opportunities and drive positive outcomes for our customers with MongoDB. Act as a trusted advisor to sales leaders and provide actionable insights related to competitors to our largest and most important accounts
- External Engagement – Support customer-facing conversations, proposal and information requests, analyst briefings, and industry events. Represent MongoDB externally as a trusted subject-matter expert
- Contribution towards revenue-driving engagements and initiatives
- Maintaining MongoDB’s current high win rate against competitors
- Content effectiveness (e.g., reach, engagement, actions)
- Increased adoption and influence of CI insights and content across the company
- Minimum of 8 years experience in technology product marketing, development or management roles that included competitive or technical market analysis, though other roles and relevant experience will be considered
- Experience with enterprise architecture with a particular focus on scalable and highly available distributed systems. Ability to rapidly build a practitioner-level understanding of MongoDB and multiple competitors
- Understanding of the data management landscape, including a broad range of data technologies, such as RDBMS, document, NoSQL, text and vector search, and emerging AI systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills with the ability to develop and lead with a point of view, producing stellar writing as part of a team, under tight deadlines
- Demonstrated success in positioning industry-leading products and services
- Advanced Degree with proven background (i.e., Master's, Ph.D, or equivalent experience)
