What you will do

In this fully on-site role, you will function as an important part of the Manufacturing engineering department at Silent-Aire. You will collaborate with the senior departmental engineers in executing all aspects of a variety of challenging and innovative projects with multiple deadlines. You will mentor, coach and supervise junior staff and interact with external sales representatives and clients.

How you will do it

  • Provide technical design support to senior engineers within the engineering department with specific focus on Manufacturing design engineering.

  • Take a leading role in project execution.

  • Coach, mentor and lead project teams, including Engineers in Training to success in a wide variety of projects.

  • Communicate and interact with external clients.

  • Selection and design of custom air handling equipment and modular data centers including:

    • Design of custom air handling equipment to client’s specifications.

    • Design of computer room air handling units to client specifications.

    • Design development and value engineering assistance of data centers and modular data centers to support client specific needs.

    • Selection of fans, coils and other equipment components associated with air handling equipment.

    • Costing of units and components.

    • Production of equipment drawings and submittal packages.

    • Production of construction drawing package

  • Assist with the development of new and innovative product lines and refinement of existing products.

  • Interact with production; perform periodic inspections of units under construction.

  • Participate in continuous product improvement.

  • Be involved in many aspects of the business including support for estimating, business development and sales, production improvements and marketing.

What we look for

  • Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree (BSc. Eng., B.Eng.).

  • Three or more years of related experience.

  • Experience in 3D design is essential (assemblies, parts & drawings) and BOM generation.

  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor is essential; demonstrated knowledge in proper drafting standards and practices

  • Proven experience in metal fabrication (sheet metal, metal profile).

  • Experience in HVAC design is desirable, including knowledge in equipment and system selection, design and control. 

  • Proficiency in MS applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with the ability to leverage these tools for efficient and effective business operations.

  • Exudes confidence and tact in interacting with clients and colleagues.

  • Has the ability to interact positively with outward facing clients.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Self-starting, ability to manage multiple tasks on strict deadlines.

  • Commitment to continuous technical learning and personal development, both self-directed and under the guidance of others.

  • Diligent, with an eye for detail.

  • Ability to perform under occasional stressful situations on tight deadlines.
