ROLE SUMMARY
The manager will perform day-to-day support functions related to Pfizer's WAN, Internet and cloud DMZs. They are responsible for coordinating a ctivities to support the WAN/DMZ Service Owners, support change activity which is associated with business (GWS & ACD), Digital or internal EP&S driven changes. Specific responsibilities include performing analysis for Internet offload, responding to incident tickets, supporting design and implementation of new cloud services, and updating related support documentation.
The position will focus on WAN, DMZ and Cloud engineering which will also encompass working with application support teams, Global information security and monitoring/automation teams.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the management of WAN-DMZ assets, both physical and virtual, ensuring lifecycle governance of deployed infrastructure.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for complex incident resolution and solutioning across WAN, DMZ, and cloud environments.
  • Drive the automation of network operations, including configuration management, monitoring, and remediation workflows to reduce toil and risk.
  • Support the definition and evolution of WAN, DMZ, and Cloud design standards, including authoring detailed technical design documents and maintaining accurate physical/logical diagrams.
  • Collaborate on the research, development, and deployment of new WAN/cloud services, technologies, and features with a focus on automation and scalability.
  • Lead infrastructure changes from requirements gathering through implementation, including design, analysis, testing, and optimization.
  • Architect resilient and efficient network designs to ensure high availability and performance across core data centers and cloud platforms.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Firewall Engineering, Network Operations, Global Information Security, DDI Engineering) to develop and enforce global standards.
  • Install and configure network hardware/software in alignment with design standards and change management protocols.
  • Identify and update inaccurate support documentation; drive continual service improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, especially in network automation, micro-segmentation, adaptive policy, and zero-trust network access.
  • Contribute to the long-term strategy for global WAN-DMZ services, with a focus on automation, observability, and resilience.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required, major in a technical field such as Information Technology or Computer Science/Engineering. A Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering is preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in network automation and orchestration, including scripting with Terraform, Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Proven ability to automate operational processes, including configuration deployment, compliance checks, and incident response.
  • Experience supporting and mentoring a global team of technical engineers.
  • Deep knowledge of network technologies, including Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, and Cisco Viptela SD-WAN.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud networking services (AWS, Azure, GCP), including automated provisioning and policy enforcement.
  • Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCSE, CISSP, or equivalent expertise.
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Understanding of IT operations best practices in highly available, distributed environments.
  • A strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Process oriented with great documentation skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Self-starter with the ability to independently prioritize and complete multiple tasks with little to no supervision
