We are seeking a Manager, Software Development Engineer in Test to join our team. This is a remote opportunity based in Costa Rica.
Job Summary
Imprivata Privileged Access Security (PAS) offers a highly available and performant connectivity framework that uses SSH (secure shell) to create a connectivity platform for remote support. The appliance also offers advanced auditing capabilities and centralized management for remote access.
Our product is mission-critical to our customers and our success depends on our ability to evolve our product to satisfy new customers while improving stability and maintaining security and quality.
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to establish and lead a high performance SDET team dedicated to engineering-driven test automation. This team will transform our testing capabilities by driving a culture of automation, scalability, and continuous improvement. This individual will be responsible for hiring and developing a world-class team of SDET engineers, setting a clear vision for automation, and partnering with Development and DevOps teams to integrate into the SLDC.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-performing SDET team, hiring top engineering talent and integrating existing team members
  • Set strategic vision for test automation, ensuring our frameworks are scalable, maintainable, and efficient
  • Own and drive test automation initiatives, setting ambitious but achievable goals and ensuring on-time delivery of high-impact projects
  • Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability
  • Embed automation into the development life cycle, collaborating with Development, DevOps, and Product teams to drive continuous testing and shift-left strategies
  • Define and track key quality metrics to measure automation coverage, test reliability, and overall product quality
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in automated testing, adopting tools and practices that maximize efficiency and effectiveness


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on test automation
  • 2+ years in a managerial or leadership role
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and advocate for automation-first strategies.
  • Deep technical expertise in at least one modern programming language (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Go, Java).
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium).
  • Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub, GitLab).
  • A strong understanding of CI/CD, test infrastructure, and DevOps practices, with preference for experience in GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools.
  • Experience testing thick-client applications (non-web) is a plus.
