About the Role
Mastercard Site Reliability Engineering teams strive to ensure our customers have an experience that just works, every time by ensuring all aspects of our infrastructure and technology ecosystem are maintained to the highest standards and compliant with stringent security requirements.
In this role, the selected candidate will join our Availability Zone Operations group and take on an instrumental role building a new European team to expand the team's overall coverage capabilities and strengthen collaboration with our local stakeholders. Availability Zone Operations is focused on ensuring core infrastructure, networks and supporting services, upon which our applications depend, operate with excellence and enable the applications deployed within to deliver a superb customer experience.
Your team will be multidisciplinary with engineers from a range of Networking, Server/Storage Infrastructure and Virtualization backgrounds to enable them to effectively analyse complex application dependencies upon, or issues within, a given environment in order to advise on options for enhancement or remediation as appropriate. Applicants for this role should have a sound understanding of operating & supporting the aforementioned disciplines in a large enterprise environment but expertise in all is not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
• Management and prioritization of team member project and operational activities, including assessing escalation or expedite requests from stakeholders.
• Conduct regular reviews of incident data with Business Operations teams to ensure root causes are always identified and where patterns of failure, or compatibility issues between software and infrastructure are detected, formulate strategies to remediate or mitigate.
• Assess significant infrastructure project or change plans to co-ordinate with application teams to ensure any identified risks to their operation have appropriate mitigation plans.
• Facilitate continuous engagement between development, infrastructure and network engineering teams to identify and mitigate potential risks to their operations or enhancement opportunities to improve customer experience.
• Formulate and drive action plans to prevent potential issues, mitigate active risks when identified.
• Evaluate environment capacity, performance and activity reports to summarize and highlight areas of increased relevance to the specific stakeholder group(s).
All about you:
• 5-10 years of experience in a technical role, with at least 3 years experience supporting mission critical operations and with a direct people leadership or technical leadership/mentoring role.
• Advanced knowledge or formal qualifications in at least one of VMWare Virtualization, Server/Storage Infrastructure or Arista/Cisco/Checkpoint network disciplines.
• Strong understanding of internet facing application operations or development, preferrably in a financial or e-commerce sector.
• A champion for automation with a proven track record of reducing employee toil on the repetative or routine tasks.
• Previous experience in assessing and reporting on regulatory compliance requests, e.g. Payment Card Industry (PCI) or Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) annual certifications.
• Excellent communications skills, ideally with prior experience working with multiple geographies.
