About the team and the role:

The European Business Development team drives eBay’s growth by bringing high-potential sellers onto the platform across priority categories in Europe. The team focuses on identifying new seller opportunities, building strong pipelines, and helping sellers launch successfully on eBay.

As Central Europe Pod Lead, you will lead a team of 4–8 Business Development Managers focused on the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain. You will combine leadership responsibilities with direct ownership of strategic seller opportunities, helping the team maintain focus on high-impact activities while delivering against growth targets.

Based in Ireland in a hybrid working model, this role partners closely with teams across Category, Marketing, Global Customer Experience, Legal, Finance, Operations, Trust, and Product to support seller acquisition and activation across Central Europe. You will play a key role in expanding eBay’s seller base in these markets while helping shape how the business approaches new seller growth.

Please note this is a fixed term contract.

What you will accomplish:

  • Lead the acquisition, onboarding, and activation strategy for enterprise, strategic, and upper-SMB sellers across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain, delivering against seller growth and sales targets.

  • Build, coach, and develop a team of Business Development Managers, establishing clear territory plans, coverage models, and priorities aligned with regional and category objectives.

  • Develop and scale market-specific acquisition programs, including outreach strategies, events, webinars, and partner initiatives that improve conversion rates and accelerate seller activation.

  • Own a portfolio of high-priority seller opportunities, leading complex negotiations and onboarding efforts while modelling effective deal management and stakeholder engagement.

  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and accurate forecasts, partnering with Analytics and Finance to provide visibility into performance, market contribution, and progress toward goals.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to remove barriers for new sellers, improve onboarding experiences, and influence programs, tools, and processes using insights from seller acquisition activities.

  • Use market data and performance insights to identify opportunities, prioritise investments, and continuously improve acquisition strategies across Central Europe.

What you will bring:

  • Experience in business development, sales, or marketplace expansion within e-commerce, technology platforms, or related industries, with success acquiring and onboarding enterprise and mid-market sellers across European markets.

  • Experience leading and developing small sales or business development teams, including coaching, performance management, hiring, and fostering an inclusive team environment.

  • Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret pipeline and performance data and translate insights into clear actions and priorities.

  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities across multiple countries, balancing growth objectives with quality, compliance, and risk considerations.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners, senior stakeholders, sellers, and external partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and drive continuous improvement through experimentation and learning.

  • Proficiency with CRM and sales tools. Experience using AI-enabled tools to support lead prioritisation, workflow automation, or reporting is beneficial.

Additional Information:

  • Location: Dublin-based hybrid role with 3 days per week in the office.

  • Travel: Regular travel within the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain, with occasional travel across Europe as required.

  • Language requirements: Professional proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in Dutch, French, Spanish, or another relevant local language is strongly preferred.

  • Team structure: Direct leadership of a team of Business Development Managers focused on Central Europe, working closely with Category, Marketing, Global Customer Experience, Operations, Trust, Enablement, Product, and Technology teams.

  • Success measures include new active sellers, sales generated from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain, pipeline quality and conversion rates, seller activation timelines, seller retention, and program return on investment across enterprise and mid-market segments.
