This role will provide statutory accounting expertise at the interface between management and segment reporting and legal entity financial statements, working collaboratively with controllership and other stakeholders. It combines technical accounting, governance and audit-support expertise with the ability to navigate complex multinational data and drive technology-enabled process improvement.
Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead the preparation and review of statutory and legal entity financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS and FRS 102, coordinating inputs from relevant stakeholders to deliver high-quality, timely and audit-ready reporting
  • Prepare disclosures, technical accounting papers, reconciliations and audit evidence, and resolve financial statement review points to support statutory reporting and external audit requirements
  • Provide technical accounting expertise, develop well-supported accounting conclusions and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, legislation and internal governance requirements
  • Act as the key statutory accounting SME linking management and business reporting to statutory financial reporting. Partner with relevant controllership stakeholders who own the management reporting view to ensure that the underlying financial information is complete, accurately reflected in the legal entity accounts and supported by clear, robust reconciliations across reporting dimensions
  • Understand the underlying business and operating model and how it is reflected in transfer pricing agreements, ensuring that associated charges, revenue, costs and intercompany balances are accurately accounted for in the legal entity financial statements and supported by appropriate documentation and reconciliations
  • Support the accounting for capitalised software development and other project costs, including the assessment and validation of capitalisable labour hours, asset recognition, amortisation and impairment, in accordance with applicable accounting guidance
  • Prepare, review and explain consolidation entries and the movement from legal entity financial results to consolidated reporting, including intercompany eliminations, consolidation adjustments, reporting hierarchies and changes in organisational structure
  • Interrogate large and complex data sets to identify accounting, reporting, reconciliation and control issues, determine root causes and implement sustainable, well-controlled solutions
  • Drive continuous improvement in statutory reporting and audit-support processes through standardisation, automation, enhanced data governance and the responsible use of AI and other digital technologies to improve quality, efficiency and control
  • Ensure the accurate and timely adoption of new accounting standards and assess their implications for statutory, legal entity and group reporting
  • Maintain a robust internal control framework and effective procedures over financial reporting, reconciliations, data integrity, reporting hierarchies and supporting documentation
  • Support external and internal audits, compliance reviews and regulatory reporting across a portfolio of entities by preparing high-quality deliverables, coordinating responses and resolving assigned issues on a timely basis

You will be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role, as well as providing development for other roles you may be interested in.
