JOB DESCRIPTION
UL Solutions' AI Lab develops Artificial Intelligence-powered components and APIs for the company's software products and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive own work in a team data science project end-to-end: from data analysis to model training and microservice deployment
  • Write clean and maintainable Python code
  • Test software and fix bugs
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Conduct additional data science tasks as required, including but not limited to training data expansion, coordinating data annotation with our annotation vendor, training and deploying models


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Student of Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Linguistics or a related field
  • Strong Python coding skills
  • Understanding of NLP advanced techniques for text classification, entity recognition and/or text summarization
  • Interest and/or experience on neural methods of NLP, including word embeddings
  • Interest in design software architecture
  • Ability to write robust and testable code
  • An analytical mind with problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A strong desire to learn new Machine Learning algorithms and approaches
  • A passion for learning how to take experimental code to the next level and turn it into efficient and elegant production code


Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with code version control tools like git, github, etc.
  • Experience with deep learning and machine learning frameworks (like Pytorch, TensorFlow or Keras) and libraries (like Scikit-learn, Spacy, etc.)
  • Ability to write high quality production code, including unit test cases
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, influencing, collaboration and listening skills
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment & Agile Project Management
  • Experience in Azure (or another cloud-based platform), Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
