Job Description

As a Level 1 Technical Assistant (TA) at Dublin Airport, this individual plays a key supporting role within the service team. The role is primarily responsible for the daily cleaning and upkeep of Tray Return Systems (TRS), ensuring they remain operational, reliable, and presentable.

In addition, the TA will assist senior engineers with entry-level technical tasks, gaining practical exposure to electromechanical systems within the non-intrusive detection sector. With guidance, they will build foundational skills while contributing to the overall performance of the service team.

This position provides a pathway into technical development, encouraging learning through hands-on support, observation, and structured training.

Monday - Friday. 19:00 - 03:00am. That's an 8hr non rotating shift

Responsibilities.

  • Tray Return System Cleaning – Carry out nightly cleaning of TRS, ensuring trays, conveyors, and belts remain in good working order.
  • Routine Inspections – Perform visual checks for obvious faults, damage, or hazards and escalate findings promptly.
  • Technical Support – Assist senior engineers in basic service and maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Documentation – Complete cleaning logs and basic reports accurately and on time.
  • Parts & Materials – Ensure cleaning consumables are stocked and used in line with procedures.
  • Workplace Safety – Maintain safe working practices and adhere to health & safety standards at all times.
  • Learning & Development – Actively engage in training, shadowing, and skills development to progress toward technical competence.
  • Flexibility – Be prepared to work night shifts, weekends, or additional hours as operationally required.
  • Additional Duties – Support the service team with other reasonable tasks to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge:

  • No prior technical qualifications required; training provided.
  • Basic mechanical/electrical awareness desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to use cleaning tools and follow technical instructions.
  • Basic computer literacy to complete task logs and reports.
