We are currently looking for a talented and proactive Commercial Counsel to join the UK, Ireland and Nordics legal team to provide legal advice and support to the Motorola Solutions business on strategic priorities, with a primary focus on the UK market.
Job Description

This role is primarily remote working with occasional travel to our offices/ customer locations.

As Commercial Counsel you will be responsible for:

  • Advising on pre-sales bids for, and the in-life delivery of, Motorola Solutions’ products and services in the UK and Europe, including go-to-market framework opportunities and other government contracting vehicles. 

  • Providing contract risk analysis and mitigation plans. 

  • Drafting, reviewing, editing, negotiating and finalizing commercial agreements to meet business and legal requirements. Agreements include sales/supply and reseller/distribution agreements, framework agreements, government contracts, procurement contracts, end user license agreements, NDAs, professional services agreements, statements of work (SOW), OEM Agreements, maintenance agreements, consulting and advisory agreements and outsourcing and hosting agreements, Software as a Service (SAAS) agreements, and other technology agreements.

  • Assisting and advising on compliance with Motorola Solutions governance and standard policies.

  • Assisting with contract disputes, including understanding the issues and providing guidance on options and solutions.

  • Updating of standard terms and conditions and other templates and maintaining document management systems.

  • Proactively developing and maintaining technical knowledge in specialized area(s), remaining up-to-date on current trends and best practices.

  • Knowledge sharing and training in legal and compliance matters.

  • Supporting M&A transactions in region as needed (due diligence and integration activities).

  • Reviewing and resolving governance and ethics issues arising out of business operations.


Basic Requirements

To be successful as a Commercial Counsel you should be:

You should be able to see change as an opportunity, consider associated risks, and be able to encourage and take the lead on changes that occur at Motorola Solutions.

You need to identify issues and raise them so that appropriate actions can be taken to resolve problems or improve the client experience. We’d like you to take personal ownership to follow through on commitments in a timely manner, and achieve high quality results. You should be proactive in your approach to situations, and be able to balance priorities to keep matters on track.

Thinking strategically: 

You should be able to align your own work with broader business strategies and goals. We expect you to be aware of the business implications of market and industry trends and recognize the impact of your work on overall strategy. Challenging norms to improve processes and build efficiencies are strongly encouraged and welcomed!

Other experience/ skills:

Qualified Solicitor/ barrister (or equivalent European qualification with the right to practice in UK). Ideally you will be 3+ PQE, but all levels of experience will be considered.

Prior in-house, public procurement and commercial contracting experience highly desirable.

Ability to work independently, responsively and collaboratively, and having the flexibility to accommodate the changing needs of the business.

Excellent communication skills and attention to details.

Ability to influence and lead stakeholders at all levels of the company.

Availability for limited travel in the UK and Europe as may be required.
