Job Description
We're looking for a self-driven Lead Engineer to take on a vital role in our dynamic R&D software development centre here in Cork. They will be passionate about building great products and keen to apply their expertise to our dynamic team. Your contributions will be instrumental in advancing our portfolio of communication devices, ensuring we provide our customers with innovative and reliable products.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the development team members.
Oversee and manage daily activities of the team to ensure alignment with project goals.
Work in an Agile/Scrum team to design, implement, and test new two-way radio products and features
Assist in onboarding new team members and conducting training sessions.
Act as a liaison between the development team and other cross-functional Scrum teams.
Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within quality assurance, time and effort constraints
Teamwork in a multi-site, world-wide development environment
Participate in Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to represent QA activities.
Use secure programming practices to create mission critical and reusable software
Participation in peer reviews
Develop intellectual property
Be an advocate for test driven development and full coverage of all software via automated testing taking advantage of a pragmatic approach to the test pyramid.
Contribute to the improvement of existing mature software development processes
Work with Senior leadership in planning and prioritising work contributing to resource and feature planning.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor's Degree required; major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
Significant software development experience with proven successful delivery of several products or portfolios.
Proficiency in C++, Java
Experience in real-time embedded software
Strong communication and problem solving skills
Knowledge of large scale enterprise platforms such as Eclipse, Android Open Source Project
Experience of software security standards
Experience using version control; Git is a plus
Experience with Linux is a plus
Experience in communications protocols (USB, TCP/IP, BT, LTE, WiFi) is a plus
Experience in Test Driven Development is a plus
Experience with the use of test equipment such as logic analyzers, serial data analyzers, oscilloscopes etc.) is a plus
Experience with embedded development/debug tools (such as emulators/JTAG, etc.) is a plus
Experience with memory leak detection tools and techniques.
Experience with Enterprise architecture, working across and with many diverse groups.
