Requirements

About the role

An exciting opportunity has opened up in our Risk division. The 2LOD Financial Risk team provides subject‑matter expertise and independent oversight across Davy in the areas of Market Risk, Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk, Capital Adequacy Risk, and Investment Risk. The team is responsible for delivering comprehensive second‑line financial risk coverage for Capital Markets and provides business partnering with Capital Markets for the Risk function.

As we continue to strengthen and embed Investment Risk oversight across the firm, this role will play a key part in developing and maturing our 2LOD Investment Risk framework, while working closely with the 1LOD Investment team to enhance risk management capabilities across Davy.

In the role, the successful candidate will: 

  • Embed and maintain a comprehensive 2LOD Investment Risk oversight framework for the firm.
  • Develop and maintain Investment Risk metrics, dashboards, and monitoring tools aligned with risk appetite.
  • Support the Head of Financial Risk in shaping risk appetite statements, policies, and limits relating to Investment Risk.
  • Update and maintain Investment Risk Policy.
  • Monitor adherence to Investment Risk limits, escalating breaches and concerns as appropriate.
  • Ensure Investment Risk oversight is fully integrated into the broader Financial Risk framework (capital, liquidity, stress testing, market and counterparty risk).
  • Provide independent challenge to the first line on investment decision‑making, portfolio risk exposures, and emerging risks.
  • Act as a key point of contact for Investment Risk matters across the group Davy engaging with 1LOD and 2LOD teams.
  • Review and assess risk characteristics of investment products, mandates and funds.
  • Support cross‑functional projects, including new product approvals, valuation oversight, and system implementation.
  • Play a key role in strategic change initiatives, ensuring 2LOD requirements are defined, understood and embedded into new processes, systems and data models.
  • Provide constructive challenge in governance forums.
  • Provide advice as well as challenge to 1LOD Investment team in relation to specific aspects of Davy’s Risk Management Framework e.g. risk appetite, risk taxonomy, enterprise risks.
  • As a member of the Financial Risk team, contribute to team‑wide responsibilities, including the delivery of 2LOD financial risk coverage for Capital Markets.

About you

We are looking for somebody who has the following background and skills: 

  • Strong educational background (3rd level relevant degree and/or professional qualification).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Investment Risk, portfolio risk management, market risk, or related financial risk disciplines (preferably within asset management, wealth management, or investment firms).
  • Deep understanding of investment products, portfolio construction, risk drivers, and performance analytics.
  • Good knowledge of UCITS including investor disclosure rules as well as the investment and liquidity rules.
  • Knowledge of AIFMD and UCITS rules is desirable but not obligatory.
  • Familiarity with private markets, valuation challenges, illiquidity risk, and alternative asset classes.
  • Experience operating within a 2LOD or risk oversight environment.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, commitment and problem-solving skills and excellent presentation skills and capable of engaging senior stakeholders with clear risk insights.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrable applied knowledge of the various components of a strong Risk Management Framework.
  • Track record of fostering inclusivity, co-operating within a team and has excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Financial Services Regulation preferential.
  • Track record leading and driving process and technology change.
