Role Purpose:  
Ownership of Car Rental Supply commercial performance, driving both commission and rebate revenue growth and cost efficiency. You will be responsible for owning a Supply commercial strategy “deal desk” – working the Supply and Partner Trading teams to design and optimising supplier negotiation and trading strategies, setting clear performance targets.  

Delivery of a Car Rental Insurance Performance Optimisation Strategy, working closely with the Insurance and Partner Trading teams to devise a multi-year plan to enhance insurance profitability and productproposition. 
Strategic insights, strong leadership and the ability to influence will be crucial in delivering sustainable, positive commercial outcomes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the delivery of an Advanced Car Rental Supply Commercial Strategy, acting as the conduit between the Business Strategy, Supply and Partner Trading Teams, bringing together the required expertise to set and manage the execution of top tier Car Supplier commercial negotiation and trading strategies, and implementing a pipeline of innovative supply products.
  • Responsible for optimisation of Car Rental Supply Performance: Set and hit Car Supply P&L performance targets/KPIs, aligned with Partner Trading Squad objectives. Drive Supplier unit margin enhancement - managing for costs inputs such as insurance claims, chargebacks and customer service fees, while also optimising for commission and rebate revenue performance across the Supply base.
  • Responsible for the development of a strategy for drive enhanced insurance profitability and optimisation of a suite of insurance performance KPIs that are centrally tracked - working closely with the Insurance Lead and Partner Trading P&L Leads to enhance or rectify performance, supported by a cross-functional Insurance Performance Forum.
  • Act as the Business function commercial lead and representative with the Revenue Management teams to make active choices on Car Supplier and Insurance product pricing, content management, marketing funds, loyalty campaigns, CRM campaigns, digital marketing, sort optimisation, supplier marketing initiatives (e.g. SEE campaigns) etc. to achieve P&L targets.
  • Coordinate data analysis and hypothesis testing with the Business Strategy team Commercial Analysts to uncover and address Car Supplier and Insurance Product trading opportunities and overcome performance challenges.Data analytics & reporting automation: Support the development and embedding of processes and tools for effective Supply and Insurance performance management, including MI performance dashboards and reporting. 
  • Stakeholder communication: Ensure key stakeholders across the Business, Revenue and Finance functions understand the drivers of Supply & Insurance performance and the approach taken to drive enhancements through proactive communication and performance management. 
  • Cross-functional alignment: Work with cross-functional/team leaders andpeers to define and prioritise performance optimisation opportunities, for example, P&T, Data Science, and MVT testing roadmaps to support Supply and Insurance target achievement.  

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience: Min 5 years in a similar role with commercial performance ownership.
  • Data analytics & financial modelling: Ability to build and own financial models and scenario analysis, with a strong understanding of financial metrics.
  • Commercial Acumen: Making informed decisions, often with limited or incomplete data, aligned with the business and Supply or Insurance Partner objectives, to maximise long term commercial outcomes.
  • Negotiation skills: Proven history of delivering advanced negotiation strategies, and positive commercial outcomes from negotiations.
  • Cross functional leadership and Collaboration: Ability to lead cross-domain subject matter experts to drive revenue growth and achieve sustained cost efficiencies.
  • Strategic program design: Experience in designing and leading complex strategic programs, working with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive commercial outcomes against committed timelines.
  • People Leadership and performance management: Proven ability to build, lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Influence and Stakeholder Communication: Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with diverse stakeholders, building buy in and clarity on performance strategies.
  • Self-starter attributes: High level of curiosity, ownership, and hunger.
