About The Guinness Open Gate Brewery  

The Guinness Open Gate Brewery is the home of experimentation in beer at St. James’s Gate in Dublin City.  It is an experimental brewery which dates back over 100 years, and our gates are open for discovery. Guinness Open Gate Brewery is a hidden secret just waiting to be discovered. Visitors are welcomed to our taproom and beer garden to sample experimental beers that will not be found anywhere else!  As an Open Gate Brewery Ambassador, you will work in a busy bar environment, welcoming visitors from the four corners of the world on a celebration of Guinness experimentation, where your role is to help visitors celebrate and explore the joy of beer, guiding them through tasting beer, assessing its flavour and quality, and with an ability to describe why it tastes the way it does.

About the Role

We are looking to recruit Open Gate Brewery Ambassadors who will become a recognized friendly face of the St James’s Gate Brewery, welcoming visitors and trade to explore the possibilities of beer tastes. 

This is chance to work with both the brewery team and also with the customers at GOGB.

The position is primarily based in Dublin at the Open Gate Brewery, where you will welcome visitors to explore the joy in making and sharing beer, exploring flavour, beer styles and pairings with our many guests.  You may also from time to time be asked to represent Guinness in other markets.  Your working hours will be spread across days, evenings and weekends, interacting face to face with trade representatives, general public and the broader beer community.  

Responsibilities:

  • Embody a passion for Guinness and Brewing, enthusiastic about sharing your passion and knowledge with others. 
  • Host events and training to bring the Brewery beer portfolio to life. 
  • Be knowledgeable and confident in the beer community, speding time engaging beer drinkers and make genuine connections. 
  • Be confident across various social media channels, with an ability to connect with bartenders and members of the beer community.  
  • Provide support for PR events
  • Develop strong working relationships in order to become a trusted source for all things St James’s Gate among sales and marketing teams, including brand inductions & innovation presentations. 

Role Requirements:

  • Must be passionate and knowledgeable about beer, beer culture and international beer trends.    
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience in the beer industry. 
  • The ability to engage & captivate a crowd on any beer led occasion. 
  • Have an in-depth understanding of various brewing processes.    
  • Cicerone Certified Server is a minimum, while having Beer Sommelier / Certified Cicerone, IBD General Cert, or other industry qualification is favourable
  • Full clean driving license with access to own vehicle an advantage but not a prerequisite to role. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. 
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be able to interpret lack of clear instruction  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with the ability to create & deliver great presentations.
