Team Overview
This team is part of the Global Alternatives Transactions (“GATS”) group within Business Operations. The team’s core focus is to: Support private asset settlements and lifecycle activities Manage BlackRock’s investment book of record (“IBOR”) as it relates to our alternatives platform and make this data available to downstream consumers
Our alternative investment capabilities are fully integrated into BlackRock, enabling investment teams to leverage the firm’s considerable resources in risk management, product development, client service, and operational support
Role Responsibility
- Demonstrate product and functional knowledge of the alternative investments industry, with a focus on private credit, to effectively communicate with the business and trading counterparties.
- Help lead the settlement process for private assets and loans—including funding and documentation matters—and support ongoing lifecycle activities to maintain BlackRock’s investment book of record (“IBOR”).
- Interact with Portfolio Management, NAV Oversight, Client Servicing/Reporting, Legal, and Tax teams as needed to develop and enhance operating models for private credit and other alternative asset strategies.
- Support the onboarding of new alternative mandates, including informing and implementing processes for investment/trade lifecycle management, cash management, reporting, and reconciliation.
- Gain an understanding of all applicable portfolios and deal-related documentation to ensure controls and adherence to guidelines. Identify risk areas and implement or improve risk-mitigating controls.
- Collaborate closely with Administrative Agents, Borrowers, and Legal regarding KYC documentation, including administrative details, tax, and fund formation documents.
- Understand the maintenance and distribution of loan documentation, including private and public amendments, restructures, and voting requirements for settled and trade date positions.
- Research and resolve any discrepancies regarding cash and position breaks.
Experience
- Preferably 7+ years’ experience in consulting, portfolio management, operations, fund accounting or related areas with a heavy focus on private funds and private markets investments.
- Bachelor’s degree: Finance, Information Systems or Accounting preferred.
- Familiarity with the investment management industry (experience with credit strategies, private and registered funds, separate accounts and various types of investors preferred).
- Excellent communication and client service skills.
- Proficient in a high pace environment with large volume and high-risk transactions with a low tolerance for error.
- Works independently or in a team environment and actively seek additional responsibilities.
- Outstanding academic achievement, broad based work experience, and demonstrated leadership experience.
- Preferred knowledge of vendor systems including, but not limited to, Solvas, Digitize, Geneva, Wall Street Office and Clear Par.
- Above all, the initiative and willingness to contribute beyond the scope of one's role to achieve team and firm objectives.

Our hybrid work model
