We're currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Gameplay Engineer to join us remotely and help take us to the next level. Our goal is strong: to establish Ready or Not as the quintessential FPS of our time.
Role Overview
As a Gameplay Engineer at VOID Interactive, you will play a critical role in developing Audio and Gameplay systems throughout the life cycle of the product. You’ll collaborate closely with Audio Designers, Engineers, Technical Designers, QA, and Production to ensure our gameplay systems and tooling are stable, efficient, and allow for the creation of world class content.
This role requires a proactive problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced game development environments and is passionate about audio, gameplay, and thrives working across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Audio and Gameplay Designers and Engineers
- Ability to write efficient, clear, maintainable and portable code.
- Manage and assist in microservice development and deployment life cycles
- Maintain and improve build systems and infrastructure reliability
- Implement and manage configuration management solutions
- Apply and enforce basic security best practices across pipelines and infrastructure
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve pipeline and infrastructure issues efficiently
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, QA, and production teams
- Document processes and contribute to operational best practices
Essential Requirements
- Experience integrating Audiokinetic Wwise
- Minimum 3+ years experience gameplay and audio system development
- Passion for developing designer facing systems
- A range of game application and game engine skills (e.g., AI, physics, camera, animation, etc.)
- Understanding of multiplayer games, replication, and client‑server or other authority architectures.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills including memory management and multi-threading issues
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote-first environment
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Nice to have/ Bonus, but not essential for this role
- Experience with shipping a game in Unreal Engine
- Knowledge of multiple programming languages such as C++ and Python
- Knowledge of full software development lifecycle
- Experience working in a game development environment
- Experience supporting multi-platform releases (PC, console)
