What you will do
- Maintain and improve our cell shader
- Explore improvements to our lighting model
- Profile and Optimize runtime performance on the CPU and GPU for both client and server and memory use.
- Educate other team members on best practices
- Work closely with other engineers and technical artists on optimization
Must have
- C++ expertise
- HLSL or GLSL expertise
- Experience in Unreal Engine 4 or 5
- Write clean, efficient, reliable, and reusable code
- Proactive and detail oriented
- Excellent communication skills with a variety of audiences
- Worked on one or more shipped games
Nice to have
- Experience working on a live service game post launch
- Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD)
- Experience optimizing network traffic and bandwidth
While Stoic is a fully remote, forever remote workforce, this is a US-based role. The person filling this role will need to be eligible to work without visa support and located in the contiguous United States.

United States Pay Range
$140,000 - $180,000 USD
This range is determined by several factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. It is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
The final job level and compensation will be determined by the candidate’s work experience, years of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, geographic location, and other business considerations.
