This role will be working on our Quora product.
About the Team and Role:Every day, millions of people seek answers and share their knowledge through Quora. To foster this marketplace of knowledge, we need to build systems that make sharing knowledge rewarding and discovering it easy; that show you answers to questions you didn't know you had, on topics you didn't know you liked, and that scale to support the participation of the entire planet.
The Quora Core Product team is the creative powerhouse behind the most critical features of the Quora product. This team is responsible for the continuous evolution of the Quora user experience. Our engineers work at the intersection of software development, design, and data science to build intuitive features that foster knowledge sharing and community engagement.
As a Software Engineer on the Quora Core Product team, you will:
Have a significant impact on a wide array of features that are essential to the Quora community, working on projects that improve user engagement, drive user growth, ensure high-quality content through effective moderation, and enhance the overall creator experience.
Leverage data and experimentation to create solutions that will reach millions of users.
Engage with a fast-paced, agile development environment, delivering functional and engaging features that meet our high standards of quality and performance.
Develop full stack web applications with Python and React
Contribute to projects that shape our core product experience - driving growth, ensuring healthy moderation, and empowering creators
Design and launch product features at massive scale, using data and experimentation to guide each iteration
Drive projects from ideation to production using the full technology stack
Collaborate with designers, product managers, fellow engineers, and data scientists to prototype and implement functionality and analyze impact
Participate in the team’s on-call rotation to ensure Quora provides a reliable and high quality product
Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's “coordination hours" (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time)
2+ years of full-time professional experience building consumer web products (excluding internships)
Knowledge of frontend technologies such as React and Typescript
Excellent skills in Python or similar programming language
Professional experience leveraging backend storage systems such as MySQL, MyRocks, Memcached, or Redis
Experience working with large-scale distributed systems, and an understanding of the challenges and complexities involved in building scalable solutions for millions of users
2+ years of frontend experience with frontend technologies, such as React, Javascript, Typescript

There are many factors that will determine the starting pay, including but not limited to experience, location, education, and business needs.
US candidates only: For US based applicants, the salary range is $128,193 - $184,009 USD + equity + benefits.
Canada candidates only: For Toronto and Vancouver based applicants, the salary range is $167,178 - $191,975 CAD + equity + benefits. For all other locations in Canada, the salary range is $156,033 - $179,177 CAD + equity + benefits.
