The Team:
We started with a small group of experienced engineers and the team has significantly increased in size to a team of 20+ with plans to continue to grow. The team was formed to execute on Clear Street’s growth strategy of expanding our products and services to reach more asset classes and geographies. We work closely with engineering and product teams based in New York.
Members of the team have the unique opportunity to be part of a growth journey, building a technology stack from scratch, and making a big impact on the financial market. In this role, an individual will work in conjunction with team members in Sweden and NY to build applications for our Execution Management System and our Active Trading businesses and may at times work along with teams supporting both Risk and the Futures business.

The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Front-End engineer to join our Swedish Engineering team. You will play an important role in building up the technological backbone of Clear Street. In this role you will work closely with our business partners, build and design new solutions, and support the current business.
As we continue to build the team we are looking for front-end engineers that have the ability to help build the client side, to ensure usability and easy navigation. As an experienced Front-End Software Engineer you will help build our technology to offer a modern prime brokerage experience. You will tackle non trivial problems that force you to balance trade offs while implementing clean and efficient solutions. You will raise our bar on providing clean and efficient solutions that delight and offer the best experience for our customers. You will push our operational standards and ensure that we are able to offer and maintain a high SLA.
This role is deeply involved with engineering the technology solution that we offer to our varied client base including hedge funds, traders and portfolio managers.
You Bring:
- You have at least four (4) years of professional experience implementing web applications using React and TypeScript.
- You have contributed to systems that deliver solutions to complex business problems that handle massive amounts of data. You are drawn towards scale, distributed systems, and associated technologies.
- You can clearly explain the nuances of system design and paradigms to engineers and stakeholders.
- You prioritize end user experience and it shows in your APIs design, functionality, and performance.
- You have a strong command over design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- You communicate technical ideas with ease and always look to collaborate to deliver high quality products.
- Your experience will help you mentor team members, define our engineering standards, and drive a system design approach to building new services.
Tech Stack:
- Required experience in Typescript/Javascript and React
- Preferred, but not required, experience in Clear Street technology Stack: Java, Go, Python, AWS, Kubernetes, gRPC, Protobuf, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Docker, While the experience with these technologies is not necessary, readiness to learn this stack is required.
