About the role
Our Finance Manager– EMEA will be responsible for all operational accounting and accounting functions (3.5 FTE). The FD reports into the Finance Director EMEA.
The EMEA region consists of 3 offices / legal entities in NL (30 FTE), DE (3FTE) and UK (6 FTE).
The role and the functional reports are in our EMEA head office in Amsterdam and partner closely with global headquarter finance staff in Los Angeles and the local finance staff in the APAC region.
The ideal candidate will be hands on and a strong communicator, collaborator, and motivator in a fast-paced work environment and preferably have relevant experience in Finance within the footwear wholesale and ecommerce operations.
What you’ll do
• Lead and oversee the day-to-day management of all aspects of operational finance and accounting functions
• Manage the AR (1.5 FTE), AP (1 FTE) and the Finance Specialist (1 FTE)
• Supervise the preparation of the annual accounts (3 legal entities NL, DE, UK) with local auditors and prepare documentation with the team for the local audits
• Collaborate with FP&A on the budgeting and reforecasting
• Manage month-end tasks with support from the team including hands on calculations and postings
• Collaborate with FP&A on month-end analysis
• End responsible for the timely and accurate closing of monthly, quarterly and annual management actuals reporting in compliance with Dutch GAAP
• Supervise the preparation of all the tax filings prepared by external parties: CIT , VAT, Duty. Ensure tax returns and other filings are complete on time.
• Establish, maintain and document internal accounting controls and procedures
• Partner closely with EMEA FD to identify and mitigate risk and foreseen impacts of operational decisions/initiatives
• Act as finance partner to FD EMEA in various special projects including operational, financial and/or global initiatives
• Prepare Yearly Transfer Pricing documentation
• Assist in the yearly GRS sustainability audit
• Seek process improvements to drive expense savings and to improve the accuracy & timeliness of financial close
• Ensure that the accounting department fully supports the operating business units in the timely and strategic issuance of credit to customers, and payment to vendors
• Approve all vendor payments
• Change EMEA pension plan according to the new law in 2026 with externally hired expertise
• With the support of the business analyst, manage and supervise the EMEA cashflow forecast, and provide bi-weekly updates to the Global Cash Manager
• Prepare dividend payments compliant with local law
What you bring
• Exceptional managerial skills including staff management, development, coaching, delegation and multitasking
• Strong communication, interpersonal & management skills
• Experience with operational aspects of accounting
• Ability to work across the organization at a high level, interacting with leaders of operating and support units
• Experience in multi-entity, multi-currency closing and consolidation
• SAP experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently and prioritize workload
• Strong computer skills (SAP, excel, etc.)
• Self-starter who exemplifies a propensity to take initiative
• Excellent organisational, multi-tasking, project management skills with a hands-on mentality
• Strong ability to work as a team player or individually to achieve set requirements
• Strong relationship skills and be confident in communicating at all levels
Qualifications
• 5 - 8 years experience in the field, 3+ years experience in a similar role
• Preferably RA (CPA)
• Experience including Big 4 public company and previous controllership experience preferred
• Preferably SAP Finance & Controlling (FI/CO) knowledge with a high degree of comfort with all FI master data (profit centers, cost centers, COA, functional areas, internal orders)
• Preferably knowledge of fashion and specific experience in the footwear/fashion business
• Fluent in English and 1 other language (French, German, Dutch) is a plus
