Job DescriptionThe EU Finance Functional Risk Manager is considered an expert in applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact their assigned line of business. Job scope and complexity of assigned business is broad and very complex. This role has an expert-level understanding of the business line’s operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls. They typically interact directly with senior managers requiring an advanced level of presentation, relationship building and negotiation skills. They will support Finance investment portfolios, treasury and investment activities, and the related market, capital, liquidity, and operational risk.
Key accountabilities:
Serve as a trusted risk advisor to aligned Finance leaders
Identify and address risks before they impact objectives
Present Finance update at appropriate committee meetings
Serve as a functional liaison between the Business Line and second and third lines of defence
Evaluate and consult on the risks associated with strategic priorities or major programs and projects
Design, enhance and simplify effective control environments for Finance teams.
Provides assurance of the efficacy of the BL compliance with Enterprise Risk Appetite Statement and Enterprise Risk Management Policy
Leading collaboration sessions with the functional area(s) to document Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for Business Line Incidents and report Operational losses.
Support the BL with risk programs such as Issues Management, BCIQ & PRISM submissions, Risk assessment Unit reviews and support and monitor through the full lifecycle.
Manage adhoc projects from start to finish
Respond to unexpected events and findings
Skills & experience required:
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
Six to ten years of applicable experience.
Possesses a sound understanding of investment management practices, financial instruments, and applicable regulatory requirements, enabling effective independent risk assessment, review, and challenge.
Considerable understanding of the business line's operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls.
Considerable knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies.
Strong process facilitation, project management, and analytical skills.
Additional information
The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
