Purpose of Role: 

This is a new opportunity to join our IT Department as an Engineering Manager, where you’ll lead a talented development team and play a key role in delivering high-quality software solutions. This position is central to bridging Product (what/why) and Engineering (how/who), ensuring alignment between vision and execution while driving technical excellence and team growth.

Our technology stack is built for scalability and performance. On the backend, we primarily use PHP (including Laravel) and MySQL, running in a Linux-based environment. For the frontend, we work with vanilla JavaScript, Vue.js, and React, while our mobile applications are developed using React Native,

Role Overview: 

As the Engineering Manager, you will lead and mentor a team of 3 developers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. You’ll be responsible for ensuring technical quality and consistency across all deliverables while partnering closely with Product teams to translate strategic goals into actionable engineering plans. In addition, you will support the career development and progression of team members and champion best practices in software development, architecture, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:


People Management

  • Line manager for all developers. 
  • Run 1:1s, coaching, mentoring, and career development. 
  • Handle performance reviews, goal-setting, and promotions. 
  • Build a healthy engineering culture (collaboration, knowledge sharing, continuous learning). 


Delivery & Process

  • Own delivery commitments in partnership with the Product Owner. 
  • Ensure agile ceremonies run smoothly. 
  • Monitor team velocity, capacity, and blockers. 
  • Coordinate cross-domain work (e.g., Billing + Client Systems overlap). 


Technical Leadership

  • Enforce coding standards, design principles, and architecture consistency. 
  • Run technical design reviews. 
  • Ensure DevOps/CI/CD pipelines are used effectively. 
  • Partner with QA Lead to embed testing into development. 


Hiring & Team Growth

  • Own recruitment process for developers. 
  • Identify skill gaps and training needs. 
  • Onboard new engineers effectively. 


Stakeholder Alignment

  • Work with CTO on tech strategy and architectural direction. 
  • Work with Product Owner to balance roadmap vs tech debt. 
  • Communicate progress, risks, and issues to leadership. 

KPIs / Success Measures 

  • Team engagement & retention (developer satisfaction). 
  • Delivery predictability (meeting sprint/release commitments). 
  • Code quality metrics (defect rates, code review coverage, test coverage). 
  • Career progression (promotions, skills growth). 
  • Stakeholder satisfaction (POs, CTO, business partners). 

Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in leading a team
  • Senior IT engineering background (ex-senior developer or tech lead). 
  • Solid grasp of software engineering practices, agile, and architecture,
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills

Compensation and Benefits

  • circa €95,000 - €105,000
  • This is a hybrid role based from our Dublin Office with occasional business travel.
