As the Engineering Manager for our Data Acquisition team, you will lead a talented group of engineers responsible for building and maintaining our data pipelines, API integrations, and web scraping infrastructure. This role requires not only strong technical expertise but also a strategic, product-oriented mindset to shape the team’s vision and architecture. You'll play a key role in building "data acquisition as an infrastructure product" that supports all our client-facing products and powers our business. We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering leadership, architecture, and product thinking, with a passion for building scalable, efficient, and innovative data systems.
What You'll Do
Leadership & People Management:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of innovation,collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and support team members in their
- professional development.
Technical Strategy & Architecture:
- Drive the design and implementation of scalable, maintainable, and efficient data pipelines, API integrations, and web scraping solutions.
- Ensure systems are robust, reliable, and capable of handling ever-growing volumes of data.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies, leveraging them to improve our systems.
Product & Strategic Thinking:
- Collaborate closely with product managers, stakeholders, and other engineering teams to align on priorities and define roadmaps.
- Shape the team’s work into a platform that supports multiple client-facing products, ensuring seamless integration and scalability.
Operational Excellence:
- Establish and maintain high operational standards, including system monitoring, alerting, and proactive maintenance.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, processes, and tools.
- Ensure data quality, security, and compliance across all systems.
Who You Are
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, preferably in the data engineering space.
- Strong technical background in building and maintaining data pipelines, API integrations, and/or
- web scraping solutions.
- A deep understanding of distributed systems, data architecture, and cloud-based infrastructure
- (AWS)
- A product mindset with the ability to think about data acquisition as a core infrastructure
- product and align engineering efforts with business goals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make thoughtful trade-offs in a fast-paced
- Environment.
- You have strong software engineering fundamentals, including systems architecture, algorithms, problem-solving and experience building web-based SaaS products
- You understand how the Web and Cloud work and have experience working in AWS using IAC
- You have at least 7 years of experience in software development using Java stacks
- You have at least 2 years of team leadership experience

The Interview Process:
Every role starts the same, an introductory call with someone from our Talent Acquisition team. We will be looking for company and values-fit as well as your professional experience; there may be some technical role-specific questions during this call.
Every role is different after the initial call, but you can expect to meet several people from the team 1:1 and there might be further skill assessments in the form of a Take Home Assignment/Case Study Presentation or Pair Programming/Live Coding exercise depending on the role. In your initial call, we will walk you through exactly what to expect the process to be.
