Our platform must be resilient, scalable, and flexible to meet these demands and is powered by Go-based microservices deployed across Cloudflare's infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers, providing regular feedback, career development, and technical guidance
- Work closely with Product and Engineering stakeholders to prioritize, plan and execute on work.
- Understand technical implications of work in order to scope, work across teams and help unblock projects.
- Responsible for production services, organizing on-call rotations and handling customers escalations
- Ensure effective incident response, root cause analysis, and implementation of long-term solutions to avoid service outages
- Promote best practices in software engineering, driving continuous improvement in processes, tools, and documentation
- 2+ years Experience as an Engineering Manager for a team of Software Engineers focused on backend systems
- Excel at planning, creating teams and overseeing execution to meet commitments and deliver with predictability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality solutions
- Demonstrate a track record of managing a team including hiring, onboarding, and professional development. You inspire your team to reach higher. You're as good at explaining "why" as you are "how".
- Experience implementing tools, process, internal instrumentation, methodologies and resolving blockages.
- Comfortable managing teams/projects in multiple locations and time zones, with tight deadlines and short release cycles.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally
- Understanding of public cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP), network protocols (Layer 3/4), and orchestration platforms
- Experience programming in systems languages such as Rust and Golang
Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.
- For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $225,000 - $275,000
- For New York City, Washington, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $213,000 - $261,000.
- For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $191,000 - $233,000.
