Hello! We're Teya.

Teya is a payment and software service provider, headquartered in London serving small, local businesses across Europe. Founded in 2019, we build easy to use, integrated tools that enable our members to accept payments and boost business performance.

At Teya we believe small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities.

We’re here because we don’t believe there’s a level playing field that gives small businesses with a fighting chance against the giants of the high street.

We’re here because we see banks and legacy service providers making things harder for them. We don’t think the best technology or the best service should be reserved for those with the biggest headquarters.

We’re here to fight for a future where small, local businesses can thrive, and to commit the same dedication they offer all of us.

Become a part of our story.

We’re looking for exceptional talent to join our mission. We offer a chance to create impact in a high-energy and connected culture, while benefiting from continuous learning opportunities, a supportive community which is proud to serve our mission, and comprehensive benefits.

As an Engineering Manager for the Mobile Engineering team at Teya, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the mobile experience that powers how small and medium businesses interact with our platform across Europe. You'll lead a team of mobile engineers focused on building fast, reliable, and intuitive mobile apps that are critical to our customers' day-to-day operations.

You'll be working on high-impact features that span payments, onboarding, account management, and more—delivering experiences that are secure, scalable, and a joy to use. This role blends strong technical leadership with people management. You'll guide your team through complex architectural decisions, foster their professional growth, and promote a culture of craftsmanship and collaboration.

You'll work closely with product, design, and other engineering leaders to shape a mobile roadmap that reflects both user needs and business priorities. We're looking for someone who's passionate about mobile development, deeply user-focused, and excited to scale both people and systems as we grow.

Your Mission

  • Lead a team of mobile engineers focused on delivering high-quality, performant, and secure mobile applications for our customers.

  • Manage team performance, development, and growth through coaching, structured feedback, and regular performance reviews.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in product, design, and engineering to deliver seamless and consistent experiences across platforms.

  • Ensure high standards for maintainability, performance, test coverage, and architectural quality in the mobile codebase.

  • Own delivery outcomes, app reliability, and release cadence, ensuring we meet customer expectations while maintaining technical integrity.

  • Contribute to the mobile product roadmap and help shape the long-term strategy for mobile at Teya.

  • Mentor engineers on technical best practices and empower them to lead feature development and make key implementation decisions.

  • Drive hiring, onboarding, and team capacity planning as we scale the mobile engineering function.

Your Story

  • 1–3 years of experience managing engineers, including coaching, feedback, and performance management.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in mobile development, ideally with Flutter and/or Kotlin Multiplatform (plus solid native fundamentals).

  • Experience building and scaling production-grade apps used by thousands of daily users.

  • Strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, etc.) and cross-platform UX consistency with platform conventions where needed.

  • Familiarity with modern CI/CD, mobile observability, and release management best practices.

  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and aligning mobile work with broader business goals.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to translate technical trade-offs clearly.

  • Pragmatic mindset with a bias for action, quality, and delivering user value.

Technical Requirements

  • Proven experience with Flutter and/or Kotlin Multiplatform; solid native fundamentals in Kotlin and Swift are a plus.

  • Strong understanding of mobile application architecture and state management.

  • Experience integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs and microservices.

  • Knowledge of mobile security best practices and PCI compliance (preferred).

  • Experience with mobile analytics, error reporting, and performance monitoring tools.

  • Understanding of app store submission processes and guidelines.

The Perks

  • We trust you, so we offer flexible working hours, as long it suits both you and your team

  • Private Health Insurance

  • 25 days of Annual leave (+ Bank holidays)

  • Public Transportation Card

  • Meal Allowance

  • Frequent team events & activities in and out of the office

  • Office snacks every day

  • Friendly, comfortable and informal office environment
