3) Delivery & Execution

  • Own delivery commitments at the team level, ensuring alignment with roadmap and OKRs
  • Partner with the stakeholders to provide accurate milestone updates and progress reporting to the stakeholders
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and manage dependencies, risks, scope creep, unforeseen complexity, and escalations across teams
  • Track and improve team flow metrics (lead time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, MTTR)
  • Champion automation in CI/CD, test coverage, and release governance; reduce toil and bottlenecks
4) Technical Stewardship

  • Collaborate with Senior Engineer(s)/Architect(s) on system design, technical strategy, and debt retirement
  • Encourage high standards in code review, documentation, security posture, and observability
  • Balance short-term delivery with long-term maintainability; facilitate technical discovery spikes and design reviews
  • Maintain awareness of platform constraints, scalability, performance, and cost
5) Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with stakeholders on prioritisation, scope, and trade-offs; align delivery to business outcomes
  • Communicate plans, risks, and status to stakeholders; provide clear, no surprises updates

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams as EM/SDM (typically 3–5+ years).
  • Background as a senior engineer or equivalent; capable of technical guidance without being the primary coder.
  • Experience with agile delivery at scale, production operations, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Strong track record in hiring, performance management, and coaching.
