Job Responsibilities:
Objective
Perform CAE and simulation activities for product/system creation, and/or verification for all innovation and development projects, utilizing internal and with external resources. Responsible to ensure product meets performance specifications prior to creation of physical prototypes.
Schooling
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred .
Experience Required
Three (3) to five (5) years of work experience in similar positions, including internships, performing analysis and simulation of powertrain components/systems.
Specific Knowledge
Three to five years CAE work experience in strength, durability or NVH analysis of powertrain components/systems.
Strong knowledge & experience in using CAE analysis software such as Altair HyperWorks, ABAQUS, Optistruct, FEMFAT etc. with ability to run, debug and post-process results.
Experience with optimization tools such as Optistruct, Tosca etc.
Strong analytical and problem solving (root cause & failure analysis) skills.
Good understanding of finite element analysis methods, structural mechanics, fatigue life, vibration analyses.

Responsibilities
Systematic use of simulation early in the design process to prevent failure modes in products and assist in problem resolution.
Apply engineering principles and simulation techniques to guide the creation of new and modification of existing product/concepts.
Create component/system level FEA models for powertrain systems for strength, durability, NVH and thermo-structural analysis.
Collaborate with component/system engineers to recommend and implement design changes required to achieve defined performance targets.
Perform optimization studies using CAE tools & techniques like topology optimization, robust design optimization, probabilistic design methods, design of experiments etc.
Validate & correlate CAE models with test data to continually improve accuracy of CAE methods and focus on developing new analysis capabilities/processes.
Develop and deliver the internal/external presentations and interpretation of results for design reviews.
Create manufacturing feasible new product concepts by applying engineering principles and analytical techniques.
