Key responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a payroll EMEA sub-team
  • Own payroll for multiple EMEA countries, ensuring accurate and timely execution together with your team
  • Step in as backup for selected EMEA countries when needed
  • Manage the employee query process and act as the point of escalation
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners — our outsourced payroll vendor, HR, the Benefits, Stock, and Global Mobility teams, authorities, and auditors
  • Ensure clear, reliable communication within your team, with the business, and with employees
  • Strengthen payroll process controls and ensure adherence to compliance and SOX requirements
  • Develop and maintain payroll-related policies, and identify areas of non-compliance
  • Review internal processes and service delivery, recommend improvements, and manage their implementation
  • Lead payroll-related projects in partnership with other teams — systems and tooling, legislative changes, and M&A activity
  • Uphold eBay's DNA

What you bring

  • 5+ years' experience in payroll delivery, ideally within a shared service team
  • 3+ years' experience as a people manager
  • Experience in a large organisation, handling high volumes in a fast-paced environment
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory payroll requirements across several EMEA countries
  • Good understanding of complex payroll topics such as benefits, equity.
  • A detail-, and goal-oriented approach
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to improve payroll processes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and social skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Reliability, commitment, flexibility, and a talent for working in virtual teams
  • Fluent spoken and written English; additional languages are a plus
