Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

As Stripe continues to develop innovative products that serve businesses of all sizes around the world, risk will increase in complexity and scale. The Onboarding and Compliance Strategy organization protects and advances Stripe’s business, brand, and mission by building and deploying industry-leading policies and programs that instill user, regulator, and partner trust in Stripe while enabling business growth.

What you’ll do

As a member of Onboarding and Compliance Strategy team, you will have a deep understanding of Stripe’s onboarding and compliance policies, systems, and controls, which include areas such as Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), and Financial Crimes / Anti-Money Laundering (AML).

You will design strategies and projects and manage programs to achieve Stripe’s goals relating to user compliance. You will provide expert guidance to regional representatives across Policy, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams in navigating complex areas to ensure compliance with regulatory and partner requirements while minimizing user friction. We are looking for someone who is passionate about navigating ambiguity, enabling business growth while balancing risk, and is skilled at identifying ways to improve user experience, as well as someone who has deep expertise in regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate in this role will be responsible for the areas outlined below. All of this work requires close collaboration with the stakeholder teams who are already working on Onboarding and User Compliance today. We expect that we will adjust the scope a bit as we settle into our new operating model with these stakeholder teams. Responsibilities outlined below are a starting point.

Responsibilities
  • Thought Leadership: Partner with key stakeholder teams to define the strategy, vision and roadmap for the EMEA region’s onboarding and compliance (KYC/KYB, CDD/SDD),  to meet evolving business needs.
  • Program Management: Evolve work from a project-orientation to a programmatic approach and report on program updates and progress on goals. Manage regional needs and incorporate them into broader roadmaps.
  • Build Relationships:  Represent Onboarding and Compliance Strategy org in forums with stakeholder teams and leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement (Flywheel): Establish scalable mechanisms to proactively identify challenges and opportunities in policies, processes and performance and drive plans to address them.
Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • Demonstrate a user-centric mindset
  • Have experience working in a regulatory and compliance organization
  • Have experience working with product and engineering teams
  • Be adept at using data to surface insights and drive decisions
  • Have prior experience launching successful programs
  • Have demonstrated the ability to influence change and deliver results without authority
  • Have experience working in a high growth environment at scale, as well as in a globally distributed organization.
  • Be a self-starter, be highly organized and have strong communication skills.
