The Role:
The Asset Operations function forms the cornerstone of service delivery to customers, protecting the environment and meeting regulatory standards as well as managing the majority of operational expenditure. The Asset Operations function has responsibility for operational and maintenance strategy, policies, planning and standard operating procedures for Water and Wastewater operations both nationally and regionally, ensuring that value for money and customer service is delivered.
The Operational Planning Team are responsible for the management and implementation of national Maintenance Programmes. The team manage Asset Operations Capital Maintenance Process under the SSARA Portfolio, statutory and preventative maintenance programmes.
The Electrical Low Voltage (LV) Technical Lead reports to the Engineering Services Manager and their duties and responsibilities are outlines below.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accountable for providing specialist electrical Low Voltage (LV) engineering expertise and assurance across Asset Operations.
- Act as Competent / Authorised Person, where required.
- Responsible for ensuring UÉ certification and documentation is fully auditable and up-to-date.
- Support safety assessments and provide technical advice as required.
- Deliver the objectives and targets of the Asset Operations Work Programme.
- Accountable for completing technical reviews and interruption of maintenance documents submitted by external specialist contractors; recommending appropriate interim controls, safe operating approaches and resolution of defective assets.
- Deliver the implementation of the Uisce Éireann Preventative Maintenance Management Strategy and Asset Class Strategies.
- Develop a close working relationship with the Operational Risk and Resilience Teams to ensure close alignment and effective collaboration.
- Develop a close working relationship with key internal stakeholders; Asset Planning, Asset Interventions, Health and Safety.
- Responsible for providing expert engineering support to AO teams, providing guidance in resolving operational challenges.
- Deliver audits and compliance reviews on operational sites; track non-conformances through to closure.
- Support identifying opportunities for capital investment that will reduce operational risk, enhance reliability and improve asset lifecycle performance.
- Responsible for timely progression of work-orders through Maximo by actioning engineering services team role requirements.
- Deliver key technical decision-making during urgent situations, ensuring appropriate escalation, documentation and resolution.
- Responsible for delivering targeted technical briefings.
- Responsible in overseeing the quality and technical competence of contracted activity.
- Deliver technical support, advice and guidance to the Operational Continuity and Emergency Planning and AO teams during an incident.
- Ensure own knowledge and the team’s knowledge is up to date on the application of current relevant legislation, standards, processes and procedure to support this area of work.
- Ensure Engineering Services reporting is completely, timely and accurate, and the content is appropriate to the relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and detailed reports are available to the agreed stakeholder to inform of potential incidents, near miss incident and actual incidents.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholder in the development of suitable maintenance job plans for Maximo
- Actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement of the existing maintenance processes.
- Ensure the procurement process is followed for the national appointment of specialist maintenance Contractors.
General Duties and Responsibilities

- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments and wellbeing across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and performance
- Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with UÉ’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
- Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the COO Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
- Demonstrate the implementation of all company values and behaviours and embed then in team structure and future ways of working
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in Maintenance Management in particular electrical Low Voltage (LV) assets.
- Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable and or relevant experience.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience.
- Demonstrable experience in the management of, application of and oversight of operations and maintenance practices and procedures is desirable as well as providing technical engineering solutions

- Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate complex information to others.
