The Provider Growth Analytics team partners with business leaders across Optum to drive growth through data-driven decision making, advanced analytics, AI innovation, and actionable insights. We are building scalable analytics capabilities that help identify market opportunities, inform strategic decisions, enable provider engagement, and support enterprise growth objectives
As Director, Data Analytics - Provider Growth Analytics, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a high-visibility analytics portfolio supporting Provider Growth initiatives. You will be accountable for defining analytics strategy, leading multi-disciplinary teams, delivering innovative data products, and partnering with senior business leaders to accelerate growth through advanced analytics and AI-enabled solutions.
This role requires a combination of business acumen, technical expertise, people leadership, and executive influence to drive measurable impact across sales, growth, provider engagement, client targeting, and enterprise analytics initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:
Analytics Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
  • Define and execute the analytics strategy supporting Provider Growth priorities
  • Establish a scalable analytics operating model that enables growth, innovation, and operational excellence
  • Lead the Provider Growth analytics roadmap and prioritize investments aligned to business objectives
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities where analytics and AI can accelerate growth and improve decision-making

Business Impact & Growth Intelligence
  • Develop analytics solutions that support provider targeting, market prioritization, client segmentation, campaign optimization, and growth opportunity identification
  • Translate complex business challenges into actionable analytical solutions
  • Drive adoption of insights that improve business outcomes and stakeholder decision making
  • Measure and communicate the value delivered through analytics products and capabilities

AI & Advanced Analytics Leadership
  • Lead adoption of AI, machine learning, and advanced analytical methodologies
  • Oversee the design, development, governance, and deployment of AI-enabled analytics products
  • Partner with technology and architecture teams to build scalable data and AI solutions leveraging modern cloud technologies
  • Champion responsible AI practices and enterprise governance standards

Data Product Ownership
  • Own the delivery of strategic analytics products supporting Provider Growth and commercial objectives
  • Drive product vision, stakeholder engagement, prioritization, adoption, and ongoing enhancement
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, trusted, and aligned with business outcomes
  • Lead the evolution of self-service analytics and insight delivery capabilities

People Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of analytics professionals across data analytics, data engineering, AI, reporting, and product disciplines
  • Build and maintain a high-performing culture focused on innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Establish clear career development pathways and succession planning strategies
  • Foster an environment that attracts and retains top analytical talent

Executive Stakeholder Partnership
  • Build trusted partnerships with senior leaders across Growth, Product, Sales, Operations, Technology, and Analytics organizations
  • Present insights, recommendations, risks, and opportunities to executive audiences
  • Influence strategic decisions through data-driven storytelling and analytical leadership
  • Act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams

Operational Excellence
  • Ensure delivery excellence across a portfolio of analytics initiatives
  • Manage competing priorities, resources, budgets, and stakeholder expectations
  • Establish performance metrics and governance processes to measure success
  • Promote best practices for analytics development, quality assurance, data governance, and operational sustainability

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Proven significant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data science, or related disciplines
  • Proven extensive experience leading analytics teams and managing complex programs
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving business, technology, and analytics stakeholders
  • Proven experience building and scaling analytics capabilities and operating models
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and executive stakeholders
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency with modern analytics platforms and cloud-based data technologies, including Snowflake, Azure, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and GitHub

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven experience within the healthcare industry
  • Proven experience supporting growth, sales, marketing, provider, or customer analytics functions
  • Proven experience delivering AI, machine learning, or agentic AI solutions
  • Proven experience leading analytics product teams
  • Proven experience with cloud-native data platforms and enterprise-scale analytics environments
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational transformation initiatives through data and AI innovation
  • Demonstrated solid analytical skills
