About this role:

This role creates thought leading IT Solution & Services Sourcing research for our IT Leaders clients and has conversations with client (Inquiry), stage presentations, teleconferences, and client meetings. It is important that you have a vision for how IT Sourcing for Solution & Services will evolve worldwide (outsourced, nearshore & offshore) and at a regional level.

What you’ll do:

As a Gartner analyst you will speak to Gartner clients either in a video-call, from the stage at a Gartner event or face-to-face during a sales support visit. In every client interaction analyst help clients solve difficult sourcing issues, review their documents and service provider proposals, and guide them on best practices that would lead to better outcomes. To support these conversations you will research markets, practices and trends and produce written research for Gartner clients to download and apply. Your topic coverage will include

  • Reviewing Outsourcing services or Solution implementation RFPs clients have developed and need best practice guidance

  • Share Gartner research and help them identify the best service providers in the market globally for the scope of services they are seeking support

  • Review Services contracts from service providers for Outsourced services (applications or infrastructure) and identify gaps in the terms or SLAs or how the proposed terms may not be in their favor

  • Conduct research and analysis in specific areas of expertise targeting client’s key initiatives & deliver high quality actionable advice through a variety of media.

  • Write high quality, clear, actionable, advisory research documents.

  • Remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within these specified areas as well as applicable adjacent areas.

  • Respond to client questions, via written responses, presentations, webinars or on Inquiry calls.

  • Maintain the Gartner’s industry leadership reputation by responding to press inquiries or offer interviews to share Gartner’s insight

  • Proactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver outstanding sales support to retain and grow the business

What you’ll need:

It helps to be obsessed with your topic! Gartner analysts are correctly viewed as THE experts. This means you need to know your markets, vendors, trends, management practices, etc. and be able to see the forest and the trees. Most Gartner analysts have many years of experience and enjoy solving sourcing problems and enjoy helping others. Being able to summarize Gartner advise and confidently respond to client questions on a 30 min call is a key competency to be successful in this role. To be able to cover any of the topics, you will need:

  • Subject matter expertise in all phases of sourcing for IT services from 3rd party providers (outsourcing) in application & Infrastructure services (cloud hosting, software implementations & consulting services), as well as ongoing support and maintenance of the application & cloud services portfolio. This includes ability to review RFPs, Scope of work, contract terms, SLAs for enterprise and SaaS software implementation proposals, outsourced (onshore/offshore/nearshore) service deals.

  • Knowledge of EMEA service providers is a must and knowledge of global service provider landscape, and the competitive interplay between incumbents, emerging providers, disruptors, and outsourcers is desirable. Additional knowledge on other markets, such as NA, APC and ANZ is preferrable.
     

  • Sourcing services experience in 3 or more below IT Services Markets is required:

  • Outsourcing Applications & Infrastructure (Hosting) Services (including offshore, nearshore) from strategy, supplier selection, contracts, and management of deal

  • Cloud Transformation Services i.e Preparing and moving applications to the Cloud

  • Cloud Hosting services including hyperscalers such as AWS and Azure.

  • Enterprise Solutions implementations services (e.g., ERPs like SAP S4Hana, Oracle cloud, MS Dynamics, Desktop /Helpdesk solutions like Outlook365, ServiceNow. HCM and CRM SaaS Solutions like Workday, Salesforce etc.)

  • Applications Testing Services - including Automated Testing, Crowd Testing, Security testing, setting up testing CoE – SLAs, operational aspects etc.

  • Managed Security Services

  • GenAI and how it impacts the IT services market
     

  • Articulate and succinct communication skills. Publishing and Speaking engagements is an advantage

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in a research or technology related role, end-user client (buyer) experience desired.

  • Experience with Professional Services contract development and negotiation is a plus 

  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience, Master's degree preferred
