Job Purpose

The Development Projects Manager at CR2 is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing a portfolio of software development and IT projects. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer this role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Development Projects Manager will play a pivotal role in driving inter departmental functional teams to deliver CR2’s strategic objectives.


Our Hybrid Working Model requires employees to be on-site three days per week

 

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Planning

  • Lead the end‑to‑end planning, execution, and delivery of multiple concurrent software development and IT projects.
  • Define clear project scope, objectives, timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive project schedules and continuously track progress against defined milestones.

Strategic Alignment & Governance

  • Partner with the CTO and senior leadership to ensure all projects align with enterprise strategy and product roadmaps.
  • Ensure all project activity complies with CR2’s governance processes, security standards, and regulatory obligations.

Risk, Budget & Resource Management

  • Manage project budgets and resource allocation, adjusting plans proactively as priorities shift.
  • Identify risks, issues, and dependencies early and implement mitigation strategies to protect delivery timelines and quality.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Coordinate and influence multidisciplinary teams including Solution Architecture, Product, Engineering, QA, DevOps, and IT.
  • Promote high standards of communication, accountability, and collaboration across all project participants.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track and report project performance using approved methodologies and tooling, providing accurate, timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure variance analysis, corrective actions, and escalations are carried out effectively and transparently.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous refinement of project management practices and delivery frameworks within the software development lifecycle.
  • Champion a culture of high performance, predictability, and customer-centric delivery.

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and associated delivery methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
  • Ability to interpret technical detail and translate it into actionable project insights.

  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capability.

  • Ability to balance tactical delivery with the strategic interests of the organisation.
  • Strong business acumen to ensure project decisions maximise customer and business value.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience successfully managing software development and/or IT projects in fast‑paced environments.
  • Solid understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, resources, and complex delivery timelines.
  • Proven record working with cross-functional technical teams and directly with customers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Industry-recognised project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master) is beneficial.

Success Metrics

Delivery Predictability & Execution Excellence

  • Projects consistently delivered on time, within scope, and within approved budget, with transparent milestone tracking and minimal deviation.
  • Improved delivery predictability across the development portfolio, evidenced by reduced timeline variance and proactive schedule management.

Quality of Delivery Outputs

  • Software deliverables meet or exceed defined quality, security, and acceptance criteria, with measurable reduction in defects, rework, or production issues.
  • Successful adherence to SDLC standards and engineering best practices across functional teams.

Strategic Alignment & Stakeholder Confidence

  • Clear evidence that all managed projects directly support CR2’s enterprise strategy, product roadmap, and customer commitments.
  • Positive feedback from the CTO, senior leadership, and key stakeholders regarding visibility, alignment, and communication.

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management

  • Early and accurate identification of risks, issues, and cross‑team dependencies, with effective mitigation plans implemented promptly.
  • Demonstrated ability to prevent escalation through structured tracking, mitigation, and timely reporting.

Cross-Functional Team Collaboration & Performance

  • High levels of collaboration and accountability across Solution Architecture, Product, Engineering, QA, DevOps, and IT.
  • Visible improvements in team coordination, communication flow, and delivery throughput across projects.

Governance, Security & Compliance Adherence

  • Full compliance with CR2 governance frameworks, programme controls, security policies, and any regulatory requirements.
  • Zero audit findings or compliance breaches attributable to poor project management processes.

Continuous Improvement & Delivery Optimisation

  • Measurable contributions to improving CR2’s project management frameworks, tooling, reporting methods, and delivery predictability.
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving process efficiencies, reducing delivery friction, and enhancing project lifecycle maturity.

Customer & Internal Partner Satisfaction

  • Positive customer sentiment and confidence in delivery, based on consistent communication and predictable outcomes.
  • Strong internal stakeholder satisfaction reflected through feedback, engagement levels, and effective project orchestration.
