The RoleWe are seeking a Database QA Engineer to help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the data powering our client’s platform. This role focuses on validating Snowflake tables and APIs, supporting data-driven features in our client-facing UI and analytics dashboards. The ideal candidate has strong SQL skills, experience in automated database testing, and comfort working in data-intensive environments. You'll play a key role in building a culture of quality as our data infrastructure scales.
Key ResponsibilitiesTest and validate Snowflake database tables, APIs, and data pipelines.
Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate test results and data
transformations.
Automate key parts of database and API testing using Python or similar tools.
Support QA for BI dashboards and KPIs, ensuring accurate metric calculations and clean data presentation.
Troubleshoot issues, identify data discrepancies, and document root causes clearly.
Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and data teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
Use test management tools like Jira and Xray to maintain comprehensive coverage and reporting.
3+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, with a strong focus on data validation and database testing.
Hands-on experience testing databases such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, or Redis.
Proficient in manual testing of both user interfaces (UI) and REST APIs.
Strong knowledge of database principles, including:
Query optimization
Performance tuning
Schema design
Multi-threading
Advanced proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write and debug complex queries and joins for data analysis and validation.
Experience implementing or maintaining automated tests for database and API validation.
Python is preferred as the primary automation language.
Ability to write clear and effective test cases and documentation, even when detailed requirements are limited.
Familiarity with Jira and Xray for test management.
Experience with Bitbucket pipelines and agile methodologies such as Scrum.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills within a distributed team environment.
Experience validating metrics, KPIs, and data content on BI/analytics dashboards (e.g., Sigma, Looker, Tableau).
Exposure to distributed data storage systems and formats such as Parquet, ORC, Avro, or Iceberg.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
Industry experience in life sciences, healthcare, Medicare/Medicaid, or commercial insurance.
