Job Purpose

Ayvens Insurance (AYINS) are seeking a Data Scientist to support various departments and engage with both internal and external stakeholders, including an international network of insurance specialists within the Ayvens group. The successful candidate will contribute to the Ayvens's growth by leveraging data to provide insights and identify new opportunities.


Key responsibilities include utilizing advanced pricing tools, conducting detailed analyses of insurance portfolios, and designing management reports and performance dashboards. This role offers a valuable opportunity to develop expertise and make a significant impact in a professional and innovative environment.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • undefined

  • Develop and refine data analysis tools to assist various departments within AYINS, such as Underwriting, Claims, and Actuarial, in achieving their goals.

  • Deploy and monitor performance dashboards for internal management and external stakeholders, using tools like Power BI, SAS Visual Analytics and Tableau to identify key performance drivers.

  • Conduct strategic analyses on key topics, such as electric vehicles, inflation and ensure findings are included in group communications and guidelines.

  • Perform and interpret advanced statistical analyses, contributing to complex projects.

  • Work with the Underwriting team on analysing advanced pricing structures, collaborating closely with the Pricing Underwriter and the Actuarial team to develop tailored pricing tools using techniques like the Generalized Linear Model.

  • Lead root cause and performance analyses as requested by the Executive Management Team, identifying and reporting on trends for corrective actions.

  • Perform or assist in data mining and analysis of large datasets (internal or external) to detect trends that may impact regulatory and economic capital and reflect changes in AYINS’s risk profile.

  • Advise on technology, tools, and techniques for Analytics, and share knowledge and best practices with other departments.

  • Engage with the wider Ayvens Data Science community and participate in relevant Data Science/Digital events.

  • Participate in training for Data Scientists to provide a challenging and rewarding environment.

  • Contribute to projects and initiatives aimed at increasing analytical capability, introducing automation, and supporting the big data and digital agendas within AYINS.

  • Complete IT Security training and any other required AYINS training programs.

  • Assist internal and external auditors in the review of the Analytics Department.

Character Profile

Requirements

  • 1-3 years experience in a similar role, or where relevant knowledge and skills can be easily transferred.

  • Quantitative degree qualification such as mathematics, statistics, econometrics or actuarial science.

  • Experience working in an analytical role, ideally using data tools to analyse large datasets from multiple data sources and presenting results through dashboards.

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and modelling techniques using for example R, SAS or Python.

  • Highly motivated individual with a professional, proactive and flexible work attitude.

  • Self-starting person who uses experience and creativity to find solutions for the challenges that arise.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, alongside strong ability to communicate complex concepts and present data analyses to a range of audiences.

  • Good relationship management skills and experience working with ‘client teams’ to understand their needs.

  • Organised individual who can prioritise workload and multitask in order to meet deadlines.

  • Proactive in identifying issues and proposing solutions.

 

Desirable

  • Advanced knowledge of AWS, SQL, R and Python.

  • Masters degree or higher in a Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or similar, with an emphasis on Data Science.

  • Experience in the automotive industry, with a deep understanding of industry specific data and trends.

  • Experience in deploying machine learning models into production environments, ensuring scalability, reliability and performance.

  • Proven experience in data engineering, including the development and management of data pipelines to support data processing.

  • Strong knowledge of cross border pan European insurance markets.
