The Data Scientist role supports our customer's data-driven organisation programme. The purpose is to define and deliver data products that enhance decision-making across various business areas. The Data Scientist works with departments to understand issues and ensure clear data product requirements. On the data side, they collaborate with agile teams to build and test data products, including statistical, machine learning or predictive models. The role is key in guiding cultural change, making data accessible and maximising its value to improve business outcomes.
Key responsibilities & duties include:
- Work with stakeholders throughout the organisation to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions
- Mine and analyse data from company databases to drive optimisation and improvement of schedules, resource allocations, product development, marketing techniques and business strategies
- Assess the performance and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
- Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets
- Use predictive modelling to increase and optimise schedules/rosters, customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes
- Utilise company A/B testing framework and test model quality
- Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and review model performance and data accuracy
Required Skills:
- > 3years experience of developing enterprise-ready data science or machine learning models
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data & Analytics or related discipline
- Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
- Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
- Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams
- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
- Ability to work within a team environment to deliver best in class data management solutions
- Solid problem solving skills with an emphasis on product development
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of BI solution toolsets (Hyperion Essbase, Tableau, OBIEE, Cognos)
- Experience working with and creating data architectures (Kimball, DataVault 2.0, etc.
